I asked Sickpup ages ago if he knew what the air pressure should be in my 1995 Honda XR250R forks and he said 6psi (although he told me not to quote him on that Wink ). Just wondering if anybody else had an idea of what they should be. Cheers.

PS - the forks have a standard schraeder valve.

My VFR400 NC21 air forks were 5psi. Much more than that and it blows the valve apparently. So 6psi sounds about right.

Most of the air assisted Forks I've come acrossed had only about 3-5 psi, you dont want to invert the dam things and have to strip em down. Shocked

The ones on my KLE500 are supposed to be zero. The valve is just to let air out of them if they get 'pumped up'.

Interesting you should say that SW, in my Haynes manual I have at home it says refer to the chapters specifications about the fork psi, yet I've looked through it all and it doesn't list them. But I downloaded one off the web and it says they should be at 0 psi. Confused So I'll just leave em as they are.

if they have means to pump them up Id have them at between 5 and 10 but see what it rides like, the harder it is the more likely it will blow the valves, the less the more likey it will bottom out,
Id phone a dealer and see if they can give you an exact reading

They can apparently become pressurised through extensive use on rough terrain. My mate had a KLR650 which he rode about on dirt roads in Australia. He said you had to let air out of the forks pretty regularly.

To me those valves are a bit of a pain. One of mine snapped off. I had to drill and tap a hole where the stump was and seal the hole using a bolt and rubber washer.
