Looking for a new bike

I'm looking for a new (second) bike in the near future. I'm currently riding a Thundercat which is currently being used to commute the 40ish motorway miles each way from Cardiff to Bristol. I'm looking for a dedicated all year round commuter for the journey. I have one (rather obvious) choice, Honda's Deauville, but am wondering if anyone has any other sensible suggestions or comments.

Why not a cheap Honda CB500 or something? I mean fair enough it hasn't got the most exciting power delivery this century, but it will do the job and cheaply.

Failing that a faired Bandit 600 would be a good candidate, both bikes will do loads of miles without much worry of them breaking down. Maybe watch for the rust on the Bandit though.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it?s worth.

Depending on your budget you cant go wrong with a bandit. I had one as my first bike for a 60 mile commute (round trip). I covered the thing in scott oiler religiously and it didn't fair to badly through the winter months.

The deuville is a Honda and as such reliability shouldn't be an issue however their just uninspiring and underpowered (although I appreciate this may not be an issue on a commuter). The full luggage system which comes as standard will obviously be beneficial and the 2007 model has received great reviews.

What about the kawasaki ER6F? Nice looking bike, faired and suppose to be good value for money......
