Hi Guys! I'm looking for some advice on buying my first bike. I'm planning on taking my cbt in the next 2-3 months aiming to go for my a2 later on . As far as a bike is concerned i'm looking at a 125 to start with for practice/commuting which i can also take my test on .Whatever bike i get i intend on keeping it for a while after my test (limited budget), maybe something bigger later on .While i plan on getting a new bike im not fussed about a fancy race style one , something reliable , functional is what i'm looking for.
any advice appreciated thanks!! Cool

if your looking for a reliable, cheap, good commuter than id go for the Honda CG125. Its cheap to buy, run, insure and it wont break down(even if it does, it wont cost much to fix).

im sure their are other bikes just as economic that i dont know of, but thats the bike i would go for.

Hi there,

100% agree with the Honda CG. Cheap as chips and refuses to break, and is highly repairable if/when you have that accidental spill or drop at the lights etc!

Its pretty much the 'bog standard' bike, if you dont want fancy and want something that you can run day after day after day come rain or shine go for it.

Also not too nickable, well less so than the race reps etc.

Still, 'cruiser' 125's can be had for decent money and are quite enjoyable for a more laid back ride. Thumbs Up

I passed my test on an XVS 125, U turn is a bitch and it gets covered in crap but such a great bike!

Seems to always be overlooked for the intruder/maurader (sp.?) but despite being a bit pricey its such a gorgeous 125 cruiser. TARDIS but the other way round i think RiDE describes it.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Honda's generally considered more reliable, but then again its very much a word of mouth type of thing so trust it as much as you choose... theres cases that prove it and cases that dont.

Remember its not just which is best, its which you like. Thats which you like riding, like the look of (you gotta be the one who has to sit on it everyday Smile ) and generally a personal choice.

And also availability, although shouldnt be a problem with a CG. If a good deal is staring you in the face and theres nothing in the desicion... go for it!
