If so, did you see those annoying twats with their speed guns out. They are local people who the cops gave these excellent...cough...guns to. Saw them when I was in Dorking coming from Newlands corner.

What is the point of them doing this, as they cannot issue fines or points. I belive all they do is send the details they have to the cops. Is that right?

If I am missing the point to these idiots(with no life) doing this, please tell me. Is it that the cops give them the equipment just to shut the whining bags up or what?

Are you sure they are speed guns and not microphones?
I would suppose that they have been bitching about bikes again. The police have reduced their presence as far as i can see and these twats want to show that we are a menace and should be hounded off the road using either "not safe on the roads with them doing this speed" or " recording noise levels and this is destroying my house value" claims.
Either way if these whinging f**kers get their way we will be hounded into finding another venue.

Yeah I am pretty sure, Iwent past them whilst overtaking a slow people carrier Rolling Eyes . All I saw was this grey haired idiot pointing this thing at me and some other silly bi**h writing my number plate down. I was probably doing 5mph over the limit(but I was not looking at my clocks).

But I dont think they will get the bikes booted from that place. Too popular.

I think the stupid idea behind this is that when these people give your registration number to the cops for "speeding" the cops will write to you to tell you what a naughty boy/girl you have been.

The theory is that if you are a persistent "offender" the cops will site a speed camera van or copper with a speed gun at that site to catch you at a later date .

I don't like this as I can't see these people receiving the kind of training that a copper does. Also I can imagine these speed vigilantes as the kind of biased people who know little or nothing of the realities of accident causes and who hate bikes and bikers and will go all out to catch and report them.

By the way the letter that the coppers send to you is a warning letter only. It is not a summons or NIP.

They're meaningless. They send you some crap in the post, a yellow card or something like that. If you do get stuff in the post from them, I'd be writing a letter back saying how you think it's a really good idea as it free's up the police to be dealing with more serious stuff. The more old people they give radar guns, the better. Very Happy

So no photo evidence then.
Wouldn't it sort of discredit the system somewhat if you (that is everyone receiving a letter) then wrote back saying you and the bike with the reg given were nowhere near the area at the time (assuming a time mentioned) Confused

Just thinking outloud you understand Wink

The ones at the bottom of Newlands corner ?

Yeah I clocked them. Not speed cameras though just digitals one of them on each side of the road.

I assumed they were waiting for a ride past and taking some photos.

Nobody hacks it round that corner anyway (well sometimes but its not as tricky as some of the later ones) and its NS limit at the point they were at. Seems odd but I'd not be bothered. Probably recording their teenagers first bike ride.

Oddly they were more in danger of being wiped out by a car there.

Map- I don't think Ladyman or his subordinates in the Ministry of Transport care whether this system is discredited or not.

It just means that he can stand up in Parliament and tell the public via the media that this is another worthy initiative which he has come up with to cut road deaths and casualties.

In fact it will do nothing of the sort but they don't care about this as they are getting good publicity and anyone who knows nothing about road safety will believe him. As a bonus it is costing the treasury next to nothing.

I seensome thing on Live Leak where there is a certain speed that don't set of speed camera's. Not sure if it would be the same for the guns but christ would that piss them cunts right off if you done 150 past them Laughing

Surely they cannot be allowed to do that sort of thing?

I know of someone who got a complaint put in against them for recording on surveillance cameras stone throwers (by one of the actual stone throwers) because there was no sign up saying CCTV cameras were recording in the area. Slightly different case but something like that has to be included in there somewhere?

Fucking hell dont get me started.

I'm have pictures of chavs chucking stones at our windows.

Last night they pinched two planted pots from our front garden.

I recovered them.

I am awaiting a response from the community copper.

My wife is very upset.

Its pointless.

I'm sure the community officer will reply at some stage.

I am considering CCTV. How sad is that?

Oh well.
