Hello All,

Im new to biking and i am in seak of my first bike. I have read the newbie post and have fallen in love with the Hyosung Comet 125 or any 125 with that shape. I do Downhilling so i know how to control a bike but that becomes a how new ball game when it comes to motor bikes. How much do these bikes go for second hand or is there any other make or model with this type of design i can get for cheap money?

cheers

How much have you got to spend on the bike?

Don't forget, you'll need £100 for the cbt. Probably £300-400 for insurance. And the minimum clothing recommended is a helmet (i'd spend at least £100), a textile jacket (something worthwhile can be had for £50-100), gloves (around £30), and boots (decent ones start at around £100)

Id rekon on less than £1,500 for a decent example. But spend more you get a better example.

Welcome to BCF and the merry world of biking! Thumbs Up

The comet is over weight and underpowered as well as it seems having slightly questionable build quality despite being more expensive than a similar Honda - so I'd suggest you need to /really/ like the looks to choose one.

If you like the Comet 125's looks, I'd highly recommend a Cagiva Planet 125 - https://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/cagiva_planet_125_1999.php

EDIT: Uses Mito engine, so can be derestricted for 105mph-ish... about 27bhp...

Having looked at one Here I can say they are a tad on the large size for a 125...... Makes my ZZR 250 look like a ped in comparsion..

Seem to be selling well acording to the staff at the shop.

I have just bought a second hand Comet off ebay - 2 years old, 6k miles, good condition. It included an Oxford paddock stand , Acumen alarm, replacement oil, fork seals etc....all for a very reasonable £1050. Very Happy The bike itself looks very pleasing to the eye as it appears to be a larger motorcycle (im 6ft 4 so needed a larger than average bike) Ive only ridden it round the car park in preparation for my CBT, but the sound, engine, looks and feel to the bike I believe to be the best of the 125s as an overall package. The only other bigger style V twin in the 125 market was the Honda Varadero which I had looked at but is extremely pricey for what you get.

I would recommend the Comet to anyone as I'm sure they will have no regrets.....but time will tell how it performs on an open road Exclamation Question
