Well fuuuuuuuuck me, it only bloody works, don't it!

Yeah I'd read all the reviews, all the ads, and the odd thread about it, but I'd never believed it. I'd always envisaged the 'tyre-weld' experience. You know the one, where you connect the can to the valve, apply the foam, then ride down the road as instructed hoping for the best while the fucking useless stuff distributes itself around all the hard to clean places on your bike until the tyre is flat again (about 30 second later).

I was forced into trying this today after being accosted by a dirty great nail, and it's brilliant. The clever bastards have even made the bottle top into a valve removing tool, genius! I stuck the contents of the bottle in there, pumped the tyre up, and pulled the nail out, and that was it, the hole filled up with green stuff and that was it. I rode up and down the street..... no problem, so I thought I'd risk a run down to the Ace Cafe. The weight of a Blackbird and 16 stone of rider, no big deal.

I'm not sure if my natural paranoia would let me hammer down the motorway knowing that my tyre was repaired in this way, despite the speed testing claims made by the manufacturer, nor if I would ever fill my tyres with this stuff as a puncture preventer and risk thrashing around without even knowing that my tyre isn't as it should be.......... but I will be finding somewhere on the bike to stash a bottle, it could have saved me soooooooo much shit over the years.

I wouldn't even be riding the bike at any sort of speed. I would get it repaired properly ASAP.

Oh and they wont mind about the slime on the wheel as they charge you to clean it off(usually)....More money in their pockets, less in yours.

It is good stuff, I had two rather large holes in my back tyre (both at the same time...) One from a nail that had came out (was plugging the hole) and one from where an old plugged punture had came lose because of me riding on a flat tyre for 4 miles.

Anyway, got to services, bought some slime, squirted it in and instead of doing the ride it thing I slapped it onto the centre stand and gave it some revs in gear, since the holes were so big a fountain of foam shot out so I had to sit there with my fingers over the holes until it set (about 5 min). I have done 300 slow miles on it since and its only gone down a small bit. I'm getting a new tyre fitted today though, i don't trust it over 60mph at all.

My rear tire picked up a nail and I chucked a can of tyre-weld in to get me the 20 miles across to Bedford to get a new one fitted. I told the garage that I'd filled up the tire with gunk but they weren't bothered in the slightest. Most of it gets spread around the insie of the tire and all they need to do is wipe the rim down with a rag to shift the residue.

Problem I have with Slime is working out how much to put in as it's supposed to be based on tyre width/height. From what I remember most bike tyres need more than the standard 8oz bottle, so you end up buying 2 and wasting some of the 2nd bottle.

Maybe worth investing in one of the plug kits similar to what BMW provide (or like this one via eBay). From what I recall a plug filled hole can be run at higher speeds.

Having said that I've heard goot things about the sealants. Mate had some fitted (don't think it was Slime, what's the other main one called?). Anyhow, came to get his tyre changed and was told he'd had at least 3 punctures. He didn't know anything about it apart from having to put a little more air in the tyre when checked (but then that could be seen as normal).

I rode hundreds of miles on my NSR with the rear tyre being held together with slime. When I bought the bike it had been standing for around three years with a punctured rear.

I filled it with slime and never replaced the tyre Brilliant stuff!
