Quick question,
my cars top speed is 112 downhill, ok laugh, but last year when we went to paintball and i was tailing my mates saxo vts thingy on the motorway. I hadnt even realised how fast we were going but i looked at my speed cage and it said 125, i immediately had a mini heart attack as i knew my car could not do those speeds and slowed down to 80 and continued to brighton at that speed.
My question has anyone else experience the affect of slipstream on a bike, perhaps on a track whereby they have gained a faster acceleration or better a higher top speed.
cheers

For the slipstream from his car to have any significant effect on your speed, you must have been about only a few meters from his bumper... definitely FAR too close for anyone traveling at that speed. You'd also have found the steering much more twitchy and the car would have felt less stable.
Slip streaming requires you to be MUCH closer than you'd think. It doesn't take long for turbulent air to stabilise itself and negate any benefits from slipstreaming.

One of the lads in the race team were convinced the Merc Sprinter van they had to run around in would do 100mph but wouldn't quite reach it by itself.
So they got me to give them a 'tow' in my car on the way to Thruxton from the hotel one sunday morning and got it up to 110 ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

You've done well to get another 15mph out of it, but yeah, slipstreaming can make a fairly big difference in my experience, if we're on a road trip, I tend to tuck in behind my mate's Escort estate; gets me up to 110 (954cc, 4 gears...), and my mates have long had a policy that when something stupid (such as that) is happening, we'll touch the brake pedal to bring on the lights, then leave a gap before actually braking, to give the guy behind a chance.
Saved our skins more times than I would care to mention.
I would absolutely not slipstream a stranger. ____________________ McGee - "When I go to the mall and see all the high school girls, I have to have DO NOT TOUCH THE GIRLS written on my hand. Every time I go to grope I see it and stop."

On the way too the Norfolk Broads last year I slipstreamed a National Express Coach on the M3, due to low fuel and a heavy load. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
