DAS tomorrow...

Confident.

If I do not add to this thread before lunch on sat, it's because I've passed and travelled up to Yorkshire to collect me GS450.

Surprised

Job done. 3 minors for taking a corner a lil wide, being a bit wobbly after walking thru u turn, and for momentarily locking rear wheel in emergency stop (recovered it perfectly though, so not sure what wrong with that).

Looking up train times to Yorkshire now, looking forward to riding the gs450 back tomorrow!

Pray for sun!!

Well, on saturday morning I took a 6 hours train journey up to Yorkshire to pick up the GS450, it went smoothly, the train didn't break down or crash like it normally does when I'm on it.

Got to the sellers house at 3pm finally (after leaving my house at 8 am), and I had a look at the bike. Its was in fantastic condition, considering it's almost as old as my wife Surprised A bit of rust on downpipes, and seat has been patched, but otherwise tremendously good condition.

Anyway, I done the deal, then quickly sorted insurance - which cost me a measly £39 for the year to add her on to a multibike policy alongside the RXS100 - and then set off homewards on the 270 mile Yorkshire - Kent mission. The rear brake pedal was sat awkwardly high, but after getting used to that, the bike was a dream to ride.. it goes smooth as sh!t from a duck's a$$! Plenty of pull, and the brakes were solid. The bike is still fairly light for it's size, and it handled very well.

I rode the A roads for an hour before the sun set and it got really cold, so i stopped in at Travelodge for the night. It was very lonely, but a bagful of stella and a £6 for the comperehensive list of adult channels made short work of a long night.

I woke up at 9, and went out with my tools and changed the position of the rear brake, then had breakfast and set off again around 10.

When I got on the motorway, I eventually got to see exactly what it was I had bought, and what the bike could do for me. It will do 90mph all day long, uphill, downhill, wind or no wind, no trouble at all.. I found the windblast freezing though, and had to stop every 30 mins to defrost my hands. On one open stretch I thought I'd just make it go as fast as i could, and I got to 100, and then backed off instantly. I found it too difficult to hold on at that speed, it was a total fight! I don't think it would have gone much faster, but thats faster than I want to go anyway.. and I want to treat the old girl well, not abuse her.

I eventually got home at 4pm.. It was a great trip, met some cool people along the way as well, and I absolutely love the bike.
Looking forward to making many long trips on her..

Looks like a nice little bike there Arfy!

I bet you wished you borrowed my heated grips now eh?

Try to find a small screen that will look tidy on it. You won't believe the difference it will make with the wind blast thing.
