You dont have to have them, but its so easy to just have a quick flick of the eyes to see behind you rather than a shoulder check every few yards. You ride forwards so you should be looking forward not over your shoulder all the times, hence the mirrors in the first place.
I've done it on a few occassions, not keen but I'd imagine that you'd get used to it.
Too many cozzers round here to catch you out by following you when speeding ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Yeah, dont like the round ones thats the thing.
Ive seen some on Ebay, mine is the N version, and these are the S version. Whats the chances of getting them ones to fit?
Or do the bandits just have one set of mirrors that fit |

Any mirrors should fit as long as the screw diameter is the same.
You can also get some end of bar mirrors that give it that little something else, like these:

I only have one wing mirror and only a back left indicator.
Some twat at college decided for the hell of it to break my right wing mirror and my right back indicator.
Tbh I found that without the right wing mirror I've done more lifesavers. Before I pretty much used to do none. So in a way it helped me be more cautious. But I would like it back.
Ordered a new right indicator and still waiting delivery. Don't like indicating with my arm. But I only indicate with my arm when there is a car behind me as I do have a front indicator.
Never liked round wing mirrors. Always thought they looked a bit silly. But that's my opinion. ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

Can you lot ride without mirrors then? I hate not being able to see what is going on behind me, can't imagine trying to ride without them as surely you need to do a full turn-and-look-behind rather than just a quick shoulder check when you are wanting to make a move? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

I did 7000 miles last year with no mirrors. Lots of lifesavers though. You need to be REALLY aware of your surroundings and I wouldn't reccomend it to a novice rider.
What about getting some shorter-stalk aftermarket mirrors to replace them with Louise? ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

The mirror in the first pic didn't look in too bad a condition. More than I could say for the ?toast? with ?green mould? in the background!! ____________________ Currently Moto Guzzi 750 Strada, Moto Guzzi V35 Florida, previously Honda CB125T, RD250LC, RD80MX |

I always keep my mirrors on my bikes, I think that they are quite a fundamental safety feature and it just doesn't seem right when they are not there. Saying that though I ride an R6 and essentially my mirrors give me a good view of my own elbows too. To actually see what is behind you it is necessary to move your arm a little to get a decent view. ____________________ Yamaha YZF-R6 |
