I read an article in the Sunday papers about a new(ish) website called peeppeep.co.uk. It’s basically a forum for people to post number plates of bikes or cars that they believe are a danger on the road. At first it seemed interesting, and a good place to post all those incidents we experience almost daily. But then, i got thinking of the harm a website like this might cause.

Who's to stop any one posting lies about anyone they choose, or just plain twisting the events to suit themselves. It’s actually pretty worrying.

For example a number of people in my office automatically assumed that filtering is an offence, and dangerous. But don’t take the time to know that done correctly and with caution its perfectly legal, There are so many occasions when cars will pull closer to the central line for the sole purpose of preventing you getting by, I’m fairly certain they honestly believe that there actions aren’t dangerous and they are perfectly correct to stop you making progress. These are the people that would most likely post about you on that site, suddenly your actions are placed into their interpretation and your number plate branded about.

Anyone else heard about this site? Oh, yeh and I bet you'll do the first thing I did and do a search for your reg too! (I also checked out my wife's... just in case)

Just to let you know, i've got no contact with that site, or know anyone who is connected. i just thought it was an interesting topic!

Shocked

EDIT:

that website, peeppeep.com, has an 'explicit content' warning page before entering, since I'm at work I didn't click enter. Sure thats the right link?

Either way, this isn't the first website to try something like this. At the end of the day I don't see why it matters? what is the point exactly of posting someone's plate?

Question you gotta ask is so what? They can say what they like on that site, but theres only 330 people who are going to read it (number of users right now),

so there's that number of people, what are the odds your going to come accross them in day to day life, and if you do, are they going to remember you, even then, what are they going to do about it?

If it gets big it could be a problem, but I don't think its anything to worry about really Razz

I just had a flick through, and what a complete load of knackers. Seems too many people have nothing better to do. One guy made me laugh -

I can't see it turning out to be much of a problem, it'll just be a site where a bunch of arseholes throw stones from the safety of their glass houses. I can't see anyone important taking it seriously.

Hmmm, the start of the sort of thing I was referring to in another thread.
What worries me is how cheap CCTV style cameras and recording devices are now.

You went past someone doing 70mph (who has usefully calibrated their speedo) - they of course presume that's the height of bad driving and report you.

Not a nice thought for many on here.

Bad driving might mean one thing to one person and something completely different to another, so its flawed from the start tbh Thumbs Down
