I'm thinking about buying one for my bike. Just wondered, as I sometimes work as a drivers mate on a causal basis, will they work in a truck? Do they work at all on batteries, or do they have to be plugged in, and if so, can they just plug into the old cigarette lighter thing in a car?

Never used sat nav in any shape or form before, hence the stupid question. I'd get a garage to hook up the necceasrry electrickery gubbins on my bike...

Will work in a Truck, can be plugged into a car fag lighter, and do have a couple of hours battery time.

hey thanks! Oh btw - do you know how long the battery stays charged, assuming the thing is not switched on?

Sorry m8, can't help on that one. Never tested it myself. Should last a while though as most modern rechargable batteries are Li Ion (Never actually checked what the Tom Tom uses) and are reasonably well suited to holding their charge. So I'd say it should be good for at least a week with over 75%.

The battery times on them don't tend to be too hot though so count on needing it plugged in for the most part.

I've had mine turned of for over two weeks and the battery is still full when I turn it on again... (it was fully charged when I turned it off!)
