We've had the UK in general , where would you emigrate to etc,

me being the leaving sometime soon category ,

But just to play devils advocate for a moment , is there any reason to actually stay in the UK , unless you are a fairly wealthy business man/woman? (the UK is one of those places where lots of money can be made but by the few).

Thinking about it and a few of Siggi's old posts I can't think of a reason to stay in the UK other than it is easy and something I am used to, and the ease of the language barrier, though languages are not a barrier for me and being trapped in the NL ignore youth group who have benefited from nothing.

We have fairly unextreme weather, virtually no dangerous animals, free healthcare and benefits, schools and suchlike. Stuff that everyone takes for granted living here but if they ever left for somewhere without these luxuries would be glaringly obvious. However it won't stop me emmigrating.

It's beautiful.

I may not always like it's inhabitants and their behaviours or what is done in its name but it's a beautiful land and I love it.

If I didn't I'd have left long ago... but if I did I'd feel I was giving up on the place and, tired as I am, I'm just not ready to give up on the place yet. Stupid blasted hope crap. Ggrrrr.

The majority of my friends and family are here.

I lived in the US for five months, a couple of years back. Life is very easy out there, but I found myself being very glad to be home.

If I emmigrated I would be starting from scratch. It might not work out, and being a foreigner and not knowing about the way they do things would make things harder.

As has been said in another thread, people sometimes want to emmigrate because things havnt worked out for them here, but things arent necessarily gonna work out for them there either.

Other reasons for staying here, the hassle of moving, or throwing out stuff you are fond of is big, if you have aquired a houseful of stuff.

I know that I can always get a job in this country, but I dont know that for sure if i emmigrate.

The infra structure here and faciliies are quite good, shops roads etc. Some of these might not be so good abroad.

In some ways the weather here is quite good as we dont get really cold or really hot.

If I left it would have to be somewhere English speaking (too lazy to learn another language) so, in the mean time I will be encouraging Scottish independance.

Then I only have a 3hour drive to emigrate.

FTW!!!

If I wasn't already emmigrating to Sweden in a month, I would contemplate...

New Zealand
Canada

never been to either but heard good things and I like wilderness and beautiful surroundings.

I don't however think "the UK" is that bad.
Inner city is bad IMO
(too much crime, too much traffic, too much pollution)

Government, laws etc are no better around the world.
Ok so you can legally get a joint in Holland, and do silly speeds on some roads in Germany.
But then Australia recently tried to ban most of the internet.
Greece banned computer games for a while
Italy seems to be turning inside out with corruption.
America... Land of the free...and extremist religious nutcases.
Anywhere in Eastern europe... Very bigotted, racist, and homophobic society.
Even where I am going, although I love it there, they have some of the more draconian drug laws (for europe anyway) AND a pint is £4+ (:/)

In fact the only path to nirvana is to buy an island and gain independance. And create your own laws.
