Hi there,
Anyone got any opinions on the daytona 955?
It seems like it's a bit different to the japanese sports with a lot of character thrown in. I'm thinking of changing my hornet, got really bored of my 900 already, totally disappointed with wind, sound.
It's very reliable but there is something missing.
I didn't fancy the japenese litre or sports 600's as I feel they appeal too much to the masses. My brother in law has had a daytona and he said it's one of the best bikes he's ever owned plus the daytona's british.
opinions please and feedback? |

'Character' usually describes failings of a bike.
Compared to it's rivals the 955 is overweight and underpowered, with no more than 'average' suspension.
However, if being different is more important than the riding <shrugs>, it's up to you. One of the reasons the Jap bikes are popular is because they are actually good bikes generally .
There are some ok, though not great in my opinion, deals out there on them. |

Thanks for your thoughts,
I probably didn't point out that I couldn't afford the insurance of some of the japanese sports anyway.
I heard that the sound of the triple is better than any japanese sports but I guess i'll have to see.
looking at the stats it weighs in at 195kg which is alot heavier than the others but if i'm honest i'm not really interested in blasting the bike round the track getting the bike past 10000rpm! I like torque and I know the daytona has it in abundance.
Maybe the extra weight is beneficial in respect to safety pulling away from lights? |
