Hi

I was just wondering if anyone here had any experience of the WR450 engine. What is it like and how often does it need rebuilding/servicing.

Some of the guys at work are looking at using one in a single seat race car - before you say it they are limited by size and currently use a CBR. They are working on reducing weight and imprvoing handling (reduced CoG etc). They don't need the power of the CBR and are limited by restricitions on the air inlet side so high revving engines get starved before they hit peak pwoer anyway.

Also any recomendations on where the guys could get some engines from - any motocross breakers about?

Cheers

Dave

erm i dont know about rebuilding it but i do know the wr450r engine needs its oil changing every 3 hrs of use, and the valves need checking every 10hrs, its for a 5 titanium valve head so it not a good idea to ignore valve check intervals lol.

as for rings ect i couldnt say...but being a 4 stroke i would imagine there be good for a long time
