Whats the point in venting all these cruelly insensitive comments? Did you know them? If you did, did you not like them?

These youngsters are dead, its a fat lot of fucking good some complete stranger coming on here telling them how stupid they where.

Or is it your intention to upset those that new them on the slim chance that they'll read this... Did you not like them either?

Must admit I dont get all the vitriol. If they were a bunch of chavs chucking rocks or genuinely playing chicken I'd have little sympathy, but this just looks like a tragic mistake.

Also, to echo someone above, I do also feel for the train driver. My cousin just went back to work last week after after a long illness (train driver). On his 2nd morning he spotted something on the track and slammed on the brakes. It was a bloke committing suicide - just laid down and stared right at my cousin as the train went over him. Pretty selfish thing to do, and my cousin was understandably pretty destraught.

So the council think that having barriers would solve the problem. If its low sun then there is just as much chance that they will just plough into the barriers.
Perhaps a rethink on the sighting of the lights etc would be in order as well.
While i can feel sorry for the famlies involved the main point is the driver was going to fast for the conditions.... He could just as easily have mown down someone crossing the road, missed a corner and ploughed into a wall or such.

Have a nice set of lights in Leeds at the moment where on these sunny mornings you cannot see the lights despite them being hung over the middle of the road and at each side. You can spot the good drivers a mile off as they all slow down and increase the gap between themselves.... Then there are the ones who are still right up your jacksie despite the fact you are breaking and they cannot see your break lights. Most end up shooting past you through red lights. Thankfully not much traffic ever crosses. Just filters into the road.

Hey... we were all 17 at some point, some of us here maybe even are or soon will be. We all make mistakes and unfortunately this one cost a life and two will never recover.

The driver will certainly be having a very hard time... I know first hand. My dad is a train driver and about 7 or 8 years ago a woman jumped in front of his train - he's never been the same since.

Just imagine the guilt (however misplaced) the driver will be going through. Pulling the emergency stop to no avail, only to step off the train and see the twisted (or dismembered) remains of the results of the vehicle YOU were controlling.

If a suicide of a middle aged woman could mess up my dad so much, I can't imagine what a three 17-year old (with two 'innocent' passengers) crash could do to someone's mind.
