As this is my 1st big bike GSF600N im not too sure what to expect/feel, or hear Confused
I had a new chain put on today as the other was a bit knackard, now I feel really bad vibrations, spesh if i break - the foot vibrates alot. Too tight/loose? - anything else it could be?

Another one -

Now, going along a 30mph the bike seems to 'sway' left, then right, then left ect ect but only in very small motions.
Its not the wind, im relaxed so in genral its the bike - What is causing that?

Cheers

Louise

You've probably got dodgy bearings, your rear wheel may not be aligned either. Check the rear wheel bearings, and make sure both the chain tension adjusters are at the same length

Sounds like the steering head bearings might need adjusting, or the swing arm has side play. Have they fastened the rear wheel correctly?

You paid to have this done? Presumably it was ok before the work was done, tell the cowboy grease monkey that fucked your bike up to sort it or get his knees drilled.
Do not be polite with these idiots, all they understand are death threats.

The fact that you've just had a new chain fitted would suggest rear wheel alignment causing the bike to not steer in a straight line, there could be several causes for the vibration but again since you've just had the chain done then check tension.

The bike was swaying before the chain was fitted.
Would sway for 1 day, not the next. But will check the barings.

But yeah the virabtions are since the chain. Seems fitted ok, not to tight or loose, will check again later Thumbs Up

were the sprockets replaced? if the sprockets are worn and havent been replaced, the gap in the teeth will be too large, and may cause some nasty vibrations.

Congrats on the new bike! Just got my first 600 last year, also a Bandit 600N, really nice bike.

Think everyone has told you everything you need to check. Wheel bearings, alignment etc.

As for the rattling, if you have not changed the sprockets with the chain, then this WILL cause it to rattle. Chains and sprockets wear in together, and you have to replace them together. Also get someone else to check your chain tension while you are sitting on the bike, as the tension changes when there is a load on it.

Good luck!

Cheers for tha advice

No, just the chain was replaced. He said the sprokets looked fine.

Back to the noise, I was in 2nd, jumped down into first really quick, without letting the clutch out, and the noise was 'winding down' grrrrrrrr hard to explain - bit like, you know those tubes, with the pully in/out stick? when you blow you chage the pitch. bit like that lol.
Will check the cam chain someone mentioned before.

Bearings - will check next week as im away from tommorow

And again, thanks for the advice - I feel a pain asking all the time

If the noise was like an X-wing from star wars then you're chain may be too tight
i've over-tightened mine a few times, and that's what it sounds like.

Chain and sprockets MUST always be replaced as a complete set. Any bike mechanic worth his salt would have known that. Even the tiniest bit of wear causes a new chain to rattle and can potentially damage the links and rings.

'Nahh, they look fine' . Bollocks. Did he get the micrometer/vernier gauge out and measure the wear on the teeth? Did he fuck. Lazy cock.

Take the bike back and demand a new set of sprockets as well.

Bullshit, it's preferable to change sprockets with a chain, but it's in no way necessary.

How often is this noise? If it's every meter or so it's most likely rear sprocket or rear wheel, less than that is front sprocket and every 5m or so it's probably your chain.

It sounds exactly like on my bandit when I had a very very tight link.

Although I'd check your rear wheel alignment and wheel bearings too.
