Eh, I guess a good cover can do wonders. Can you move the bike indoors at all? Maybe a friend's garage or something if you're really concerned about it.

I'm using a hire bike so I couldn't give a shit - it's sat on the driveway getting lots of snow on it Twisted Evil

I have that stuff, i dont know if im appliying it correctly.

It says on the can, spray on and use a rag, but it doesnt seem to get everywhere like WD40 would. (I dont cover the bike in D40).

If i wash it down, do i use warm or cold water?

Always cold water, Warm water speeds up the reaction of the salt.

The golden rule is to keep it clean.

Wash it, then cover it in anti-corrosion spray (I use Scottoil spray).

Then dry it and cover it/stick it in the garage.

It has a capillary action so it will gradually find it's way everywhere on its own.

I don't use a rag, I spray directly on but you create more waste that way.

Just give it a blast down with cold water, and get as much salt off as you can. Then cover any nuts, bolts and visible thread in vaseline. It's as good as anything else and a whole lot cheaper. The rest, I'd agree with the ACF50 Thumbs Up Just spray it on generously, don't worry about spreading it around with a rag, there should be more than enough there to cover all the bits at least twice.

If you're going to do it 'properly' (which I suspect you don't have the time, nor the inclination for) you want to undo everything and smear copper slip and vaseline over everything.

GeePerZ is plastered.. and I mean plastered in waxoyl which is this thick gloopy stuff I spray on the bike every now and again, then when the road salt is gone, I wipe it off and have a shiny bike underneath, looks awful at the moment as all gunk from the roads sticks to the top of the coating.

Dad gets a large drum of it for £10 from the whole salers,
I put it on my exhausts engine, everything, it melts off some parts and has to be reapplied.

tis good stuff, other than that FS352 (i think) spray, spray on wipe off after a ride.

the gpz is also in a heated garage at uni (student living Wink ) with a cover, at home it's a horrid damp brick built think she doesnt like, when I get home I wash the bike down, dry her off, then cover her in towels, n when she's cooled off stick bits of paper towellin in the exhust holes in an attempt to minimize condensation.

I hate winter... it's soo much hassle

Same here, two buckets of wate,r I use warm to stop my hands getting cold, also helps get gunk off

I ususally let the bike Idle for a while if it's going in the uni garage as it's warm it'll dry in there with no condensation, if I'm at home it's an army of towels mom's thrown out of the bathroom becasue they're tatty.

Brake discs.

It's a fully functional cable lubricator as well, you can also use it on wiring looms/contacts without problem, doesn't damage rubber and plastics.

nah use FS365 as E3D will tell you , you apply it daily after each ride and it neutralises the crap / salt and forms a protective layer ,

I wiped down me non washed zorst yesterday , which was caked in crud and FS spray and it came up fine.

me subframe has ACF50 on it and is rusty as crap

ACF50 has an iffy spray and leave.

Clean the bike, polish chrome bits with solvol Autosol, then polish up the bike with MER.

That should keep it protected through wet/salt/sun..

Clean the bike as often as possible, preferably after ever ride.

That might become slightly obsessive though...

Another vote for FS365 Thumbs Up

Gets in all the nooks and crannies if you spray it fine enough.

No rust on my kwak yet

If you live in a flat etc with no acces to a hose then get a 5/10/15 litre garden sprayer, all you do is fill up with water, pump it up then you have a low pressure portable hose Cool

I've used both FS365 and ACF50. The latter works much better for me; no faffing around with reapplying it after every ride and it's totally effective. Absolutely NO rust and I used it throughout last Jan & Feb (one application) without washing the bike at all.

As with anything, you need to make sure it's applied properly - for hard to reach places I just spray the stuff onto a soft brush (similar to grey one in following link) and apply it that way.

I'm lucky to have a hose at work, so I leave my bike for like 20 mins at work to cool down, then I hose it, then I apply scottoiler.

I do this every day.
