Got my GSXR400 now as it came the other day. I know DK have a bad reputation on these forums and some others but they have been really cool and things went well.

On to the bike.... Now, there are/were some problems with it and it wasnt exactly advertised correctly but this was actually a good thing for me. The bike needed a bit of a clean and needs some new spark plugs or just a clean of the old ones. Just waiting to get a spanner that will actually fit Razz. As for how the bike was advertised on Ebay it said it had done 50k KM or 30k Miles. However, after looking through all the previous MOT/Service and parts bought for the bike it seems a new engine was put in not so long ago meaning the bike has actually only done about 14-15k miles which is ace. There should be lots of life in her yet Cool . Just need a damn spark plug spanner that fits.

I wasnt aware of their reputation until after I had won the bid on ebay and I posted on here. So looking back if i had known I probably wouldnt have gone through with the bid. Im just saying considering DK's reputation everything went well.

It wasnt advertised on ebay with the correct mileage because It has had a new engine or it didnt say it had the engine at least. Not sure if you are supposed to change the mileage if the engine has been changed. As for the problems with it, nothing major its just needed new oil/spark plugs and battery.

So its got 30k on the clock
14k on the currant motor
so the old one went at 16k..

enjoy your 2000miles of riding Wink
Na just joking i'm sure it will be fine. DK do seem to have made a few dodgy deals in the past, but I'm sure everything they sell isn't f*cked, otherwise they'd have been shut down by now......wouldn't they Confused ??

Yeah, thats what I thought. If they sell something like 5000 bikes a year then they cant always get it right. However, you could argue that some of their 'dodgy' deals should have never happened anyway, 5000 bikes or 50.

or

Its got 30k on it total

gets to 28k or so and the motor pops

it was replaced with a16,000 mile old used unit from another bike

Id stake my bike on it thats what happened, especially as the swap happened "not so long ago".

According to the documents I have, An engine with 8K km on it was put in when the 1st engine had 35k km on it. Now seening as the clock on the bike reads 50k km I worked that out as about 14-15k Miles on the current engine.

Perhaps if people actually followed their reputation and stopped buying bikes from the scum that operate that place, then they would go out of business. But no, people are still buying bikes from them.

HOW THE HELL can you be satisfied with a bike that wasn't advertised correctly?

I have been buying bikes for over 20 years now Shocked and my last 3 brand new bikes are from DK who I find miles better than any other dealer in this area. I know of at least 10 other bikers who brought new from DK and are very happy.
One thing to remember about DK there used prices are high compared to others? and most of there trade ins have been thrashed to an inch of there lifes Wink

I've been put off from ever venturing into DK, but what strikes me is that all the bike magazines get their secondhand testers from DK 90% of the time.

Maybe they are easiest to get bikes off. It's also lots of publicity because they insist on putting massive stickers on their bikes.

Its funny how in ride they have the "would we buy this one" box on the test page, and 90% of the time they say no its a shed. Laughing
Hope your bike is good to you Matt06 Thumbs Up

Don't be. If it's not to far from you or on the way to somewhere for you it's a great place to visit. Very few other places where you can browse such a huge variety of bikes, sit on them and test for comfort & feel etc, even ride them if you're willing to hand over a £10.

I can happily spend a couple of hours in there sitting on stuff, getting the sales guys to pull bikes out for me to be able to get to, stroking the shiny ones etc etc etc. We go down maybe 3-4 times a year just to see what they've got in and play on their stock.

Then there's helmets, gloves, jackets and pants to try on, and a quick pop into the offroad bit to see what's in there. Spot of lunch from the burger wagon outside, maybe a cup of tea, very pleasant way to while away a boring Saturday afternoon.

If we find a bike there that we like, we then go home and find one to buy from somewhere else. Thumbs Up

Newsflash: DK have sold a bike that was 'incorrectly described in its advert' and was also sold with problems from the outset (spark plugs/battery etc). Its not unlike them is it?

Seriously though Matt06, I hope your purchase turns out okay, not every bike sold by DK is a complete shed but they do seem to deserve their bad reputation through their own actions.

Just check that whatever engine number is stamped on the engine in your bike matches what is written on the V5. Its not a major problem but it wouldn't surprise me if they differ somewhat.
