Tyre choice?

Whats the best tyre choice for a 2000 R1, need new tyres but not sure if bridgestone or others are worth the money?

Are bridgestones really that good and if so what model tyre should i get?

My cousin has an R1 and he said one of the best tyres he put on it was a Bridgestone BT 010. He said it glued to the road and was great, but as it is a soft tyre, it only lasted for 4000 miles.

I use Michelin Pilot Powers on my R6.

Metzeler Racetecs are fairly soft but give awesome grip in anything but a heavy downpour.

Pilot sports aren't that good for grip, the pilot Powers are much much better.
Personally I favour Pirelli Diablos.
The Bridgestone BT010 was a great tyre, but they stopped making it a couple of years ago. The Bridgestone replacements seem to be pants when compared to the latest offerings from Michelin, Pirelli and even Continental (road attacks).

I agree with Zimbo, 010's are old technology now, ok when compared with similar tyres of the time but they have been surpassed. I would look at standard Diablos, decent all year round use, tyre wear and will take anything you can throw at them in the summer. I'm currently using the Dunlop Qualifiers that came with the bike and they have been ok, no real scary winter road moments so far. They don't seem (using a major generalisation) as "nice" as the Pirellis though. I felt more comfortable with the Diablos through a varying range of circumstances, they seemed give more feedback than the Dunlops.

Pirelli for performance/sportsbikes

Bridgestone for tourers
