Hello

God, where do I start. I'm a 18, sports bike fanatic and I'd like to think im not stupid (atleast for an 18 year old Smile) I want to go places without worry and my 2 stroke 125 isnt cutting it in terms of power, comfort and practibility. Im on restricted Licence, so I know I would have to restrict any bike I get basically, atleast for a year to get a feel for it.

Do I:

A: stick with my gutless, breakable 125.

B: Get a 400 for relitively cheap and possibly(?) grow bored.

C: Get a sports 600 and get owned by Insurance and price to buy.

D: Get a 750 for almost the price of a 400, 3 times less insurance than the popular 600 sports.

Any help would be great, thanks loads in advance

get a 400, you won't get bored and as you're on an A2 you'll have to restrict anyway, unless you plan to be illegal.

Don't expect the old 750 to handle.

The 600 would be better if you're planning to keep it for a while then desrestrict.

get a 400 if it was me, but that's exactly what I did so i would be biased.

Thanks,

Im really thinking hard, I've been offered an r6 for 2000 quid, good condition, if I can get a good deal on the insurance I may go for it as I love the bike, but, who knows Smile

Early R6 = fragile 2nd gear.

Be careful. If you can get a test ride pin it in second and check for slippage.

Get a 400 though mate, you won't get bored. When the R6 is restricted it'll be a bitch anyway, heavier than the 4's and harder work in the twisties.

https://www.batmotorcycles.com/
all the bikes under 33bhp or with a kit available
id stick with one below the power then your not carrying dead weight or excess power you cant use!

Looking at bat they all seem to be way overpriced, who in their right mind would pay 3+k for a 10+ year old 400cc bike??

dont buy from them, just their site has a good liting of 33bhp bikes. see which you like and shop around
they do restrictions for a few hundred pounds but if you know the kits are available thertes nothing to stop you ordering it and fitting it or going to a cheaper garage.
cheers

Hey,

Just got bored and started rooting around insurance companys getting a feel for prices. So I tried my existing company for an 2005 Yamaha R6, got quoted 362 quid TPFT!! Shocked Compared to 1500ish on other companys!

2 Years NCB, garaged, full time employment, 2 previous bikes with them

Im still shocked so I ran through GSX-R 600, 400 quid !

One query though, it didnt have an option for the A2 lisence so I put Full UK Lisence, as the did the insurance man I was talking to earlier today (I was bored then to!) him knowing full well I was 18.

If all Is well that could be my mind made up now Smile atleast until tomorrow Laughing
