Does anyone know if there are insurance companies that will give you a level of insurance, that for example if your engine goes pop they will cover the costs or new engine/bike. I'm thinking fully comp doesn't go that far... I've killed 2 engines in my time and was wondering... anyone know if such an insurance policy exists? Or, any dealers that are willing to give a warrenty on a bike, they didn't sell but say for example agree to service during the warrenty. A few BCFers will know where I'm coming from. ____________________ **** Don't ride faster than your angel can fly Get this Free Space

For my first bike a had a third party warranty. Can't remember who it was by, but the conditions were that you had your bike serviced by the book at a approved dealer.
Not bad for £200, but when you read the T&C's you realise that it's not really worth it for a 50cc stroker. All 2T items are excluded. All electronic parts are excluded.
So, it would of covered me for wheel bearings and the gearbox.
Hardly worth it, when you've gotta pay dealer prices for even the simplest jobs.
Oh, and when the HG did go i had two problems -
1) The dealer I bought the bike off never passed my money onto the warranty company, so i never actually had one . .
Ergo, I had been wasting money on dealer servicing for no need.
2) I had to pay a garage to inspect the bike to confirm the HG failure. They (Mick Surman Motorcycles Aylesbury) were a shower of shit and decided that the HG wasn't anything to do with it so they serviced the whole bike and gave it back to me with a £60 bill.
(lets ignore the fact that when ever you kicked it over coolant bubbled up from the header tank)
If you want to have a look, try these -

But there's a £1K limit on claims, so i doubt it'd be enough. ____________________ "because one stroke isnt enough and four strokes waste two" |
