Going to Santa pod and raping my poor bandit to within an inch of its life.

I thought it was fitting that I was doing something very power orientated on the day I was allowed as much power as I wanted.

(The fact I was there was pure coincidence).

So there you go, 2 years are up, I was restricted for a total of about 6 months, and then rode a < 33bhp bike for a while. But to be honest, the 6 point limit thing was more worrying.

This would be a much bigger day for me if I had restrictors to take out, I would quite like my power to more than double.

But anyway, have of you done any drag racing? I managed to beat a TRX850 up the strip (by 0.1s) and I also beat a long wheelbase hayabusa to 1/8th of a mile. Then he came past like I was standing still.

There was also a bloke in a CBR 1000 engined go kart.

My best run was 12.4s quarter mile @ 106mph. Not bad for a very tired old bandit.

Been once - started running low-11's ended-up with a best of 9.4 @ 158mph.

What you think nerve-rwacking on the first run? I know it was for me Very Happy

9.4 /must/ be something special, I'd assume a busa at the very least, and most likely a turbo'd stretched number.

First go I was so scared. I lined up with the rest of the bikes, and there were 4 busas, 3 with stretched swingarms, a NOS'd bandit 1200 and some crazy drag bike thing.

Never felt so small in all my life.

There was a bloke on an R1 that just could not keep the front wheel down, but was still running 11s.

Keith Parnell (famous old-time dragracer who still runs low-9's in his 70's) said I "looked like a fish out of water" on my first run Very Happy

I can remember it clearly. I kept checking I was in gear, and opening/shutting my visor Very Happy Very Happy

I'd done about 10 runs before I realised you don't wait for the green light to go - you go on the orange. The delay is 0.4 seconds which is average for a human's reaction-time.

Here's my bike:

I have pics, good isn't the word though. That chain tension doesn't look healthy!

Marshalls had to shut my visor for me on 2 separate occasions and I forgot to zip my leathers up twice as well.

I'll go through the pics in a bit and post them up. I have a few.

Recognise that bike. Last time I saw it there were rather large holes in the crankcases.

All the best

Yeah it was the decent Skoda model, but any standard car gets murdered on the drag strip really.

Except the bentley continental that turned up near the end and wiped the floor with most stuff.

A few standard corsas, saxos etc aswell struggling to break 20s.

Gaz, you probably would have got a sub 12 second run if you took off the mounting set on the rear of the bike!

As I said earlier 300hp will put slack in the bottom run of the tightest chain Very Happy

Yes we have an event on May 12/13 both 1/4 mile sprints and full-sppeed flyers. Our club had joined forces with Straightliners this year and you can see the list of collaborative events here (and signing-up with 200mph also allows you to enter and other Straightliner event too).

Yeah that's my wing!

And I did consider not taking the top box off, so I think this was an improvement over what could have been!

A friend in a Honda CRX was doing 15 second runs, so he took all his seats out and did a 14.6.

Nah get it down there. There's an event on the 17/18 March - exactly a month from now. Get over to 200mph and sign up as a supporter, or sign up for Straightliners (the amount is the same and either gives exactly the same priveledges) and bring it along.

I might take my GSXR600 there next month see if I can get it into the 10's.

TBH, I don't think I'd have wanted a much more powerful bike.

The guy on the R1 nearly looped it every time off the line and the front popped up in second and third, and I'd be scared of spinning up a 'busa off the line.

I had the bandit spinning up a couple of times and it was scary-tastic.

I did get completely owned by a non rr CBR600 though. Something like that might be ok. It'd be fun with just over 100bhp I think.

The R1 guy is a big fella that will make him wheelie. also the forks aren't strapped from what I can see. Strapping the forks would have helped him no-end.
