The phones themselves will be pretty much exactly the same albeit some network providers will lock the handset to their network.

The networks themselves offer different tariffs and have different network coverage around the country, get whichever offers the best tarriff for what you'll use the phone for and that offers the best coverage where you are. Basically its not really something that anyone can recommend what's best for you.

Go find out which one works in your area first. I was with O2 for years and they where aweful and dont even have signal here anymore. I find Orange very good i have full signal everywhere, get loads of free stuff and if you have a prob call them and they throw more free stuff at you Very Happy suits me.

You going pay and go or contract?

As Dragonfly said, coverage is the main consideration, although if you have a lot of friends on a certain network, go for that, as providers can rape you on cross network calls.

I was on vodaphone and they were pretty good, however each company has different tariffs and policies for no-use, roaming, voicemail etc that are all worth looking into. Read the T&C's with mobile phone contracts as there is usually a minimum contract length and some hidden charges.

Might be worth giving some a call and checking the network coverage in your area. T-Mobile can be checked online for this.
