I'm sure this topic'll be moved to the Workshop. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, chinese bikes all have one major weak point: The carb. The diagphram valve rubber splits wide open leaving you an engine that won't work or idles badly and doesn't generate any power.

I know a guy who owns a bike shop and they bought a load of Botian 125 scoots and they all died with the same problem.

Problem is virtually no-one stocks parts for the chinese copies so you'll be hard pressed to find a replacement. Even if you do, you'll be forced to buy a complete carb which will set you back around £100.

My little monkey had a similar problem the other day.

Usually a good starter, even though needs choke virtually every time to start and fire.

However, for a good 5 mins I was trying various combos of choke / no choke, push start and kick start to get the thing to spark and fire. The engine would turn, anytime the engine fired it would cut out straight away.

I switched the bike to reserve and hey presto, the bike fired. There weas more than enough petrol in the tank so not sure, maybe an airlock?

I did however put it down to the way the bike got absolutely soaked a few days earlier when I forgot to put the cover on.

Have you tried starting with the kickstart and not having any throttle? The other weak point on these is the sidestand switch, which apparently doesn't like moisture, or water, or air or pretty much anything!

There is of course the chance that you've flooded the engine with petrol.

When I picked the FZR from the garage after 2 weeks of nowt, the battery and everything was flat as you like, a quick hook up to a battery and the ting still would nt start.

The bloke then said:

Arrow Full choke
Arrow No throttle
Arrow Start button
Arrow Just keep the thumb on the button, in less than 10 secs the bike fired right up.

Used it a few times when the bikes been playing silly buggers and wouldnt start properly Thumbs Up
