Hi guys,
I have 2 old hard drives on my pc, both run like sh*t and only12gb. I would like to give the system away to a friend, but years of porn have probably taken their toll, and got into all areas of the HD. So, can anyone recommend a free (preferably) downloadable programe to completely blitz the system once and for all.

Paragon disk wiper, You can choose how many times the hard drive is formatted. Large organisations which have been dealing with confidential data use it to wipe their hard drives when getting rid of computers. Thumbs Up

Stellar Wipe data cleanup and file eraser utility can delete selected folders, groups of files, entire logical drives, System Traces & Internet traces (Internet cache, History, Cookies, Auto fill etc) eliminating all evidence.
Stellar Wipe Personal Edition - Free Version which overwrites data and wipes internet traces using simplest data destruction method.

nothing beats a disk degausser. You can bag one on ebay for pennies and it'll completely clobber any magnetic media in seconds. None of this dicking about with writing random bytes to disk

surely the casing provides sort of some sheilding to the HDD? and thus its not 100% reliable , thermite is though Wink
