I can't really tell the difference between similar bikes by the noise they make, I hear talk of the throaty roar of a V-twin and have no idea what you guys are on about. Neutral

When I hit around 58mph on my bike, things begin to resonate and it begins to sound like a really long, angry duck's quack (like when they're arguing over bread) coming through Steven Hawking's vocal computer.

And aye, 58 its about all I get. (Unless I'm going down hill and/or have a tailwind... Or have it in the back of a transit van... Confused )

You can be as flowery as you like in your description, go on; go wild! Laughing

The V-twin noise is what normally comes out the end of a Harley!

Ever heard a Ducati? They're V-twin too Cool

Best motorbike sound there is IMO Very Happy

Go watch some club racing and you'll soon work out the differences.

Screamy fours, rumbly twins, rattly two strokes, grumby triples, they're all noticably different.

If a bike sounds broken, it's probably a Ducati. They just sound like that.

Hmmmm, my r1 sounded the way an inline4 should, though with the addition of a set of titanium cans it sounds slightly like a twin now......odd.

I found the best place to get this was at a race day. My husband had been banging on about v-twins for ages and I had no idea until I heard the Ducatis at a BSB round. All the bikes there sound great but the sound of the Ducatis really stands out. Wow.

Shortly afterwards I bought the SV - not quite the same I know, but still sounds lurvely Thumbs Up

Mine is that unmistakable hooligan sounding inline 4 of the Kawazaki ZX7R. (Sounds faster than it actually is) lol

With an aftermarket system it's the best sounding Kwak out there.

Broken Ducati - that'd be the sound of silence then Very Happy

FWIW my V4 sounds like a sewing maching.
Although at times a sewing maching on acid.

Thumbs Up

That was me. Very Happy

Mine sounds like a really loud fart.

Edit: On second thoughts, mine sounds like a sand person (that weird screamy noise they make) from Star Wars on steroids.

I always remember, with great fondness, the look on the faces of a pair of Harley riders at some traffic lights as I emerged from behind a bus on my scrofulous Cx500 that I'd cut the end of the exhaust off in order to remove the remains of the rusty baffles.

It was a bit like that scene in "The Crying Game".

finpos.

My GPZ (parallel twin?) emits quite a rumble when on tickover. Obviously nowhere near the same league as a Harley, but I love it.

I was speaking to a mate on the mobile while sat on the bike earlier today, and he was asking if I'd attacked, or "modified" the cans to make it sound more like a Harley Laughing
...nope, it always sounds like this. Although I've found that it sounds more of a rumble while sat on the bike than it does when srtanding near it.

(I'm still hoping to upgrade to an IL4 by the end of the year though Wink )
