Insurance Write-Off - Is it worth retaining the bike?

I've got an '06 yamaha ybr125 with 2058 miles on the clock that's an insurance write-off. It's all front-end damage as far as I can tell, (bent forks, wheel and levers plus some minor scuffs), but there's no damage to the frame as far as I can tell and I'm wondering whether it'd be worth retaining the vehicle.
The settlement's 1500GBP, but I get 1100GBP if I retain the vehicle.
I'm not much of an expert at bike repairs, I'm not exactly well connected when it comes to tracking down parts, and I'm far too polite to be able to drive a decent bargain when I'm buying or selling. Taking all that into account, is there much chance of me coming out ahead on the deal if I retained the wreck? What would people here do in a similar situation?

i was always told by people in insurance you generally refuse the first quote they give you......

as for the bike... your best to break it down for spares.... i would check on eBay and see what ybr125 parts are going for... the engine and zorst will fetch the most, wouldn't like to say how much... do your research and see where the figures end up

As I've said before, it depends how capable you are at scrapping a bike and how much time you've got to put into it. It all looks like a good idea but at the end of the day you could just end up with a wreck sitting around rotting that's cost you £400. You might be better just taking the cash. It all depends on you really.

My experience buying my write off back:

Cat-C 1989 GSXF750, 32,000miles. All front damage too (head on with a car (I won though, she was crying)).

It sat in the garden for too long, granted. But when I got round to it;
Bought a whole frame (K-reg with V5), with headlamp/tail unit bits, rear wheel, front wheel, two tanks. Full black, unscratched fairing, a new rear tire, full front and rear brake hoses, handles, resevour, calipers, disks - all for £100.
Got the forks completely re-done at MTC - £100
New C&S - £80
New front indicators - Cheap, but I can't remember off hand.

So, for £300 I had my bike back on the road. Which comes to £700 total, all in. I was paid out £1,100 for the bike. Meaning I made £400 off my crash.

Probably worth it if it's Cat D/C, but not nearly as good deal as when people get offered 600cc sports bikes back for similar.

ta very much for the advice. I've decided to wuss out and just have the bike scrapped because I can't be doing with all the bother of repairs and inspections. I feel rather guilty about doing it, but I'm sure it's for the best
On the bright side, I'll soon be shopping round for another little 125 pootler to get me to and from work and, hopefully, I'll be a bit faster on the brakes next time somebody pulls out on me
