......you get to the supermarket checkout and realise your key is still in the ignition Embarassed *GULP* but get out to find everything is ok and the bike is still where you left it. I seem to be doing this quite often recently, don't know why. Usually I'll remember before I get more than 20 feet away from the bike but completely missed it today. Confused

Anyone else done it before?

yep when I had a moped, left my key in the seat lock, didn't notice till I got to the ped again Wink

maybe you should have your key on a bungee chord that is fixed to your jacket? So you can't walk away without it?

Believe it or not, one of my friends forgot to turn the engine off, let alone take the key!!

Went back to find a note on it, telling her they'd taken the key into the supermarket!

As I am used to bikes that have no key I find it easy on my superbike (the MT-500) indeed I forgot to put the key into the lock the first time I took her to work and wondered why she refused to start.

I do it all the time, but then no one would be stupid enough to steal my bike.

Yup I've done that, did it loads of times on my 125. It happens less now that I need the key out of the ignition to open the top box.

...I have left it in the top-box though.

Well maybe when you're old enough to ride a bike that needs a key you might understand. Rolling Eyes

I used to do it at work all the time and once did it at Bassets pole, been lucky every time.

I used to do it all the time on my ped, but now I have a bike worth nicking, the thought of some scrawney liddle cunt ragging ragging her around town is sickening, keys in pocket after chain around wheel and frame. get one of those disc lock cords and attach it to your keys and put it around your neck Wink

On my way home once on the scoot, I not only left my key in the ignition (with the yellow spiral thingy attached to the handlebars, but also my handbag under the seat. Only realised about half an hour later when I reached the Waitrose checkout. Embarassed Much to my surprise, nobody had wanted the scoot or the handbag.

Eh?

the bike was sat in the drive, fully unlocked and ready to go, cos I forgot to lock it up, since then, I lock it up everywhere I go, to whatever I can, but if there is nothing, I lock the chain around the rear wheel and frame.

I really don't see what your getting at with that bolded bit... Thinking

I'm not a liar, I don't 'not tell the whole truth', I think you read it wrong, I have no reason to not tell the truth, what is my gain? "practice what I preach"? if that means locking it up any and every where then yes, I do.

I've done it many times on the Jawa. I've come back to find it has been fiddled with but they have never been able to figure out how the key works. Nor can they find the kickstart.

One day someone will get it started, that will be the beginning of their problems.

I did it on a Sunday at work (morrisons) in the part where many people pass in plan open view from 8am till 5pm I WAS VERY LUCKY

Also left it (moped - Jog r) on the skipton highstreet for 3 hours.

I've also left the keys in the on possition and the lights were on overnight in my garage..... Was told that i could have burned out a coil or something, lucky that the battery was almost dead/ crappy and would only last few minutes with the keys in the ignition without the engine on. I only ever did a couple mile journeys and hadn't ridden the bike for a couple weeks so the battery was always low.

I have a VERY VERY bad short term memory and forget lots. Rolling Eyes

A mate left his keys in his moped outside work and i moved his bike!!! I'm not that cruel, so i only made him worry for a few coff seconds, i burst out laughing when he looked at me so kindof gave it away. Mr. Green

It is a trunk, what's wrong with that? Question

Or is my Americanized way of speaking frowned upon here? Embarassed

A trunk is something you find between the roots and the branches of a tree or on the face of an elephant.
