Right imagine nice cosy pub, candles lit around the place, tables, sides ect.
You sit down and notice that some candles are just way to close to your head.
One of my bosses put candles at head height - they have been there for a few weeks now.
Some of us have mentioned that its just a wee tad too close for comfort. But with the reply 'they can see the candles, they can move them if they wish' so we left it.

Tonight, I smelt something which doesnt smell good. I was upstairs in the kitchen. I phoned down and told the assistant manager to have a look around - He come up and told me this

'Some women had just set her hair alight on the candles. She must of had hairspray on and it just ingulfed her. She lost some hair on the back of her head ect. Pub stank.

Had the assistant manager saying 'he will get sued' because he was in charge. Others are saying the boss will get sued because they run it.
I came to the bar, and heard her asking for HQ office number.
She is likely to sue. Which, I hope she dose - hate the company + IMO they shouldnt of been there.
Apart from the odd faces laughing about it who would be directly at fault? Im curios to know what you think.
Assistant Manager
Managers
or the women for ovbiously not noticing the candles?!

Unless there was a fock off Massive Neon sign outside the Pub bearing the slogan 'BEWARE NAKED FLAMES', a doorman welcoming in potential customers with a cheeky wink, and the phrase 'Alright Ladies 'n Gents, Two for One on WKD tonight and Watch out for the Candles', a Maitre D dishing out Menu's and asbestos suits in equal measures AND four doberman's allocated to each candle with elastic band's around their knackers to keep them snarling and barking like rabid dogs then Health and Safety Regulations would suggest that your Landlord's gonna be well and truly shafted by Environmental Health AND the Civil 'where there's blame there's a claim' Court System.

Hope This Helps Wink

the company as a whole will be in the spotlight over it, and then it is up to the company to decide what to do about it internally(whether they go after the person who was in charge) she shouldn't have any trouble in sueing them, she had no noticed of any kind about the risk of candles etc.(did she?) H&S? Tis simply stupidity IMO. Rolling Eyes putting them in a place like that...(the candles)

The landlord is ultimately responsible, but everyone who noticed the risk also bears some responsibility under the law, as indeed does the lady who caught the toasty end of it. People are responsible for their own personal safety, as well as that of everyone around them.

Reality is if the case goes to court it all depends on how well each of the parties solicitors argue the case.

Reason why the whole legal & justice system in the whole world is ultimately flawed.

Why should you have a sign for candles?

The actuall candle itself is far more apparent than any sign. A sign you forget, an after-image burnt onto your retina you tend to notice a bit more.

I hope the case gets thrown out, as people can;t be allowed to sue the evolutionary process.

(I'm not sympathetic to these brainless losers who through entirely their own fault, get injured.)

Sounds like a rather big breach of basic health and safety laws. Hope the lady takes the place to the cleaners. Naked flames and public do not mix very well. If the flame was well away and had a glas cover then perhaps you could argue the point but still loose but one at head hight and by the customers head too. i just hope the person who had the idea and those who did nothing about it get a good shafting.

1st rule of eating......

If they got candles, i'm out of there.

That means to me that they are scared of what the food looks like and don't want you to see it..... Even the Mrs agree's with me on this.

Tis her fault for putting her hair in the flames..... Did the flames move to her ??? Nope....

thats not true, I used to make this prawn/beef thingie it looked awful , it tasted very nice though , people would walk into the kitchen to ask me how to make it I'd tell them to go away that place used candles

Well since this is in current affairs, it must be the fault of immigrants.

Or the government.

Or the police.

No, that would be if it was in Biking news.

Or maybe it would be cagers fault then.

Any pics of inferno-head lady? I could do with a laugh.

That was a great idea, get more oxygen to the flames Doh! Always surprises me that people don't seem to do the sensible thing and smother a fire, and end up wafting it instead.

Saying that, I've never been on fire.

This kinda claim culture stuff irritates the crap outta me. People should be taught from an early age that you really have got to start taking responsibility for your own actions.

I'm not saying ANYONE was to blame but if it were me I'd watch where my noodle was and I'm pretty sure I'd move a candle if it were near me.

But I don't feel happy commenting on this exact incident because I'm just imagining how the place was set up. Everyone has their own opinion of how they'd react in a certain situation etc....
