There's been police outside the Arthur Hill swimming pool on Cemetery junction for two days now, crime scene tape, vans the whole lot.

I can't find anything about it in the news. Anyone heard anything?

Pic is a grab from the online webcams.

Would be this then:

Murder victim stabbed in heartMar 1 2007

By Jim Durkin

A MAN found dead in the seat of his crashed car, yards from the Royal Berkshire Hospital, died from a stab wound to the heart.

Police released post mortem findings after widespread speculation the victim - believed to be in his early 30s - had been shot.

Four people were arrested yesterday (Thursday) after detectives launched a murder investigation.

A 44-year-old woman and three men, aged 23, 27 and 42, are still in custody at Reading police station.

The arrests followed the discovery of the body, found in a black Toyota MR2 car in Kendrick Road, near the Abbey School, on Wednesday [31].

Officers were called to the scene at 8pm after reports of a car hitting a tree.

Det Insp Rebecca Mears, from Reading CID, said: "Our investigation continues.
"The victim was driving in Reading on Wednesday night and we are keen to speak to anybody who saw him driving around the London Road area in a specific 20 minute period between 7.40pm - 8pm."

In the aftermath, police sealed off the junction of Kendrick and London Road as forensic teams moved in.

A second crime scene, understood to be linked to the murder investigation, was cordoned off at the car park of Arthur Hill Memorial Swimming Baths in Kings Road.
A staff member said: "I arrived this morning to find my workplace was a crime scene. There has been a police van here making sure no-one crosses the cordon all day."

Contact Reading CID via 08458 505 505 or call CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Kendrick road is literally within spitting distance of my office.

And I drive a black Toyota MR2... I just hope it isn't a case of mistaken identity! Shocked

I'm quite good friends with the managers of the Turks, and got in touch with them to find out whether they'd heard anything about this, seeing as they could practically look out of the window into Kendrick Road...but not heard anything back yet.

Stuff like this normally seems to be centred round Cemetery Junction, doesn't it? I remember a drive-by shooting round there when I lived in Woodley. Not nice to be so close, really.

My office backs on to the turks. Used to be our local but the rest of the people in the office don't like the new 'rock bar' thing thats going on. When it was 'The Turks Head' it was one of the roughest pubs in reading according to those in the know.

We usually go to the great ex now.

I don't remember the Turks Head being very rough. I remember drinking there (albeit occasionally) but never saw trouble - it's traditionally mostly attracted students due to its location.

EDIT: I think "those in the know" may have meant the Boar's Head on Friar Street! (next to the old ABC cinema, now demolished)

Great Ex isn't too bad, but have only drank there of a weekday evening so can't comment on any other time. Would rather the "rock pub" thing TBH, but that's just me...! Laughing

I'm me and my car is in the car park.

Luckily I'm refreshingly free of stab wounds at the moment...
