I phoned up today to get insurance for my new bike(so they can tax it)

They want another £200 for the remaining 5 months!
I said it should be cheaper as the fazer is a lower insurance group than the zee but the woman on the other end kept saying ,'' its a higher insurance category than your current bike''

Now i know that the fz6 is NU12 and the zee is NU13, so what are they playing at.

I would think it should cost no more than the admin fee to change it as its a step down ffs, or maybe a tad more because of the value.

Please tell me i'm not mad and what they are asking is bloody ridiculous, it cost me just the admin fee to change from divvy to zee.

I would imagine that this has sod-all to do with the insurance group and everything to do with you just having written off the Zee, making you a higher risk?

Because they know you're half way through the policy and have already got the new bike, they can't lose.

You either cancel the policy and they screw you in admin fees so at best you get nothing back, at worst you owe them more money.

You let the policy run so have to take out a separate one on the new bike which will cost you more in the long run so that isn't an option.

Or you just want it switched with minimum fuss so you can get out and enjoy the new bike, hence they will charge you over the odds and chances are you'll pay it.

They are twats though - if you talk yourself into scrapping your policy with them it will cost you.
There's a fee to cancel it and they swipe huge percentages off your remaining months.

...and if its Bennetts you will ring them and cancel the policy because they want more for the remaining 6 months than a new policy with someone else. Then when they have confirmed the SMALL refund you will get and you have returned the policy document to them they will forget everything, send you a renewal notice saying they will take next years premium!!! Bl00dy Insurance companies.. all the same. Money grabbing b@st@rds who employ call centre staff on a pittance who don't give a sh1t with the end result the poor ole punter gets f#cked...sorry for rant, must be the wine. Smile

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Looks like they've got me by the short n curlys, i have no choice but to pay the Gits Evil or Very Mad

The fazer is a lower insurance group, just on their 'own groupings' its the same as the Z, sods.

Its not my broker thats being the sod, its the actual insurance company.

Money-screwing-tight-arse-penny-pinching-arseholes.

NU13 just means thats Norwhich Unions classifaction and a rough guide. Insurers might give things thier own rating depending on claims and so on.

How old are you? And how much is the Fazer worth?
I ask because it might be cheaper for you to take out a new policy to cover the fazer, and let the other policy run and take the NCB on it for next years renewal?

Just an idea. Depending on cost and time etc.
