assuming we are talking alcohol of any sort, with little or no exceptions to this rule

and assuming the reason being, was because it was having a seriously bad effect on your health, to the point that you were doubled over in constant pain up to two weeks later, regardless of the amount consumed

given that alcohol seems to play a large part of peoples lives, and social undertakings...

how would this affect you? how would you feel about it?

Not having alcohol, doesn't affect me. I have never been a heavy drinker anyway, so I don't mind. The last time I had any alcohol was on New Years Eve. Laughing

I would be upset, there's nothing better than a glass of wine with dinner, or a pint after a particularly long and stressful day to wind down with.

However, if it's for my own benefit there are ways around it, and it's a matter of getting used to a new lifestyle and finding alternatives.

Is this the outcome of doctors' tests?

I don't drink anyway, so no.

If I did drink though, and I was in pain because of it, and was told it was damaging my health, then I'd give it up in an instant Thumbs Up

There's nothing more important than health, and if it means stopping something, then so be it. Smile

At this stage of my life, it probably would bother me. Being a student, one of the things you do most is get drunk. I think I would feel "quite" left out if I didn't.

Also I do enjoy a good pint when watching a football match on TV, over Christmas enjoy some wine. When having dinner somewhere I like a nice beer to accompany my meal. Alcohol does play a large part of my life. I could stop drinking, but I don't want too.

However if it was severely affecting my life, I probably could give it up.

Losing weight means I need to drink less beer, which I have done quite well recently. Smile

Well I normally have a glass of wine in an evening, more on a weekend but if it was to do with my health then I would give up.

Wouldn't bother me, doesn't bother me.

I haven't had a drink since 2002 and I haven't missed it one bit.

Its remarkably easy to not drink. You just tell the truth to people when they ask you what you are having.

If it is a hardship to stop drinking for your health, then you're probably verging on unhealthy drinking anyway IMO.

It would probably annoy me as my pool would get worse.

Dunno, when I do drink a bit I already go through the 'pain' of the hangover the next day. But if I was getting serious pain weeks later I think I'd stop, at least until the doctors could give a better idea as to the cause. Drinking lots normally ends up being something I come to regret anyway.. so might be good to have an incentive not to?

I could give it up if I had to, but seeing as I enjoy it and its not harming me, I won't. Would it bother me? At first, I guess it would, but that wouldn't last long.

I'd rather give up sex.

I'm not an alcoholic, but I enjoy my ale, wine and spirits...

Although I do drink far too much. (Never drink and drive tho)

Wouldn't bother me to be honest. I go out once a week with my mates not to binge drink, more of a social gathering cause we dont see each other much. I might have 3-4 pints over 6 hours. Sometimes the taste of alcohol makes want to vomit, even though I aren't pissed.
