Potholes

I was riding to work a couple of weeks ago when as I was coming round a corner and I hit a pothole. Which was odd as it’s the same road I use all the time so I was caught off guard.

Now I know it doesn't look like much in the picture but it upset the bike enough for the left handlebar to pulled out my grip. Shocked

I contacted my local council and told them what happened I wasn't really expecting anything to come of it. Until I noticed today that they have retarmacked that section and it’s nice and smooth now. Very Happy

I hit a big bugger tonight just off Deptford Broadway heading towards Blackheath. Hit it so hard I had to sop and check y wheel for dents.

Leeds roads are the worst I've ever driven on. Some are like the surface of the bloody moon. Don't know what the Council are playing at... and the place is crawling with ferkin students who don't pay any Council Tax yet still bimble round in cars all day long.

The scary bits are post-rain-potholes... even if I spot them in time, I can never tell how deep they are.

I call the police for these things. If I don't see action SAME DAY from the council.
Get the name of the person you speak to and let the police enquire.
It normally never takes that, but it is a road safety issue and has to be remedied.
They won't do a cute job just throw a mouthful of tar on it.

Well done you for reporting. Most folk don't give a *uck then some poor loser gets caught out and is un-horsed.

ive always found the council to be good at fixing the roads if you let them know there is a problem. However, they are not so good at checking the roads for faults themselves, it seems they wait until someone alerts them to the cave thats opened up in the road.

But one yesterday in Shoreham was huge. Dead center and around 4 foot wide, lots of different levels. I thought I was f**ked, but I was lucky Thumbs Up

You generaly get good results if you report a problem to the Highways department of your local council.
If someone has an accident after they have been made aware of a surface problem they will be in deep 5hit.

This thread inspired me to report the one at the bottom of my road that will bottom out my forks if ridden over. I'll let you know if they do anything about it - I've had an email confimation with a reference number so I'll hassle them if nothing is done Laughing

The potholes on my way to work in Hemel are terrible, i've learnt where the worst ones are, and now it's like a little slalom course!

Why are they called potholes? I've looked in loads and never found any weed.
