That's pretty stupid. What if they get a call that someone is being attacked or something and they can't respond because some idiot has clamped them.

Imagine they clamped an ambulance or a fire engine! Confused Rolling Eyes

Yes but like it was proved the police were actually still within the allowed time to replace the tax disc after the old one had expired. I thought it was quite funny at first but now ive read what major had to say i changed my mind. Imagine you had just been attacked 5 mins down the road from those police and they couldnt get there because someone had clamped their car. Also would you think it was funny to clamp an ambulance or fire engine? Probably not! I think a fair few police officers are muppets but theyre an emergency service and should be treated like one.

It's not really the copper's fault with tax, the car shoulda been checked before it even left the station. Clamping's just stupid and likely to get yourself in a lotta shit

I can be sure, but if the police are anything like the military, it is the responsibility of whoever signs for the car that day to check that everything is OK. That includes tyre pressures/wear, oil/coolant levels and tax.
Still, clamping a police car because it's in a private car park is just bloody mindedness. I hope the same copper is called to the blokes house when someone is breaking in! Twisted Evil

I am sure that the mother of the missing person was not at all distraught when they could not respond to the next call on their whereabouts.......

haha, i think it's about time... too many coppers think they can do as they please just because there in a cop car. They were on private land, and so long as there was a sign stating clamping was in force i can't see what the company did wrong?

I'm sure if it was a fire engine or ambulance then they'd have not clamped it because when have you been done for speeding, etc by a fire engine?

about time people stood up against them... think i'm going to look for a job in clamping unit Very Happy

And what if your gran was being mugged a 2 minute drive away from them but they couldn't get there because they were clamped?

Or maybe someone was trying to steal your bike and they couldn't get there.

Exactly. Its funny on face value, but the police have a job to do and these police were trying to do.

Hopefully the wheel clampers can be prosocuted for something so they dont do it again. Morons.

You know what I say... Fcuk the Police cnuts, they deserved it. They parked in a private car park. And you know what, if some granny was getting mugged two minutes down the road they wouldn't even be there in time anyway, they would probably be too busy booking some poor old biker for a small plate and a race can. I'm not being funny but they are never there when you need or want them, though they seem to be around far too much when you don't. What do they say when you get your bike stolen, come down to the station and report it... What do they say when some person running a shop is getting robbed, we'll be there as soon as we can, then how long do they take to get there? About 2 hours. They are all a bunch of useless cnuts who spend too much bloody time eating donuts, scratching their arses and enforcing shitty laws like "no dark visors." They're a waste of bloody good tax money if you ask me. Good on the clamping people.

True i agree with your stuff about how crap they are, and how shit thier prioritys are, but it will take them even longer to get to a crime scene if they get clamped on the way Confused

I must agree with what everyone's said, but on the face of it the clamping wouldn't have slowed their response to an emergency.

(taste the bitterness here)

A friend of my mother is an home help for elderly people, and on one of her regualr calls she noticed that another of the flats had been broken into where an elderly lady lives on her own.

The home help investigated what was happening and found the burglar STILL in the flat. She managed to tackle the guy and wrestle him down. By which point someone had called the police.

This lady had to sit on the burglar for two and a half hours whilst the police responded to the call! TWO AND A HALF HOURS sitting on a potentially dangerous criminal! Crazy. Absolutely crazy - they were clearly too busy prancing about in unmarked cars/bikes catching speeding motorists.
