Well the wait is over and the new Moto Gp season starts today.
The first practice session has taken place with Colin Edwards at the top. The qualifying is tomorrow ( Friday ) because the GP itself is on Saturday.
The Race will be live on BBC2 with the show starting at 11.30. The 125 and 250 will be on Eurosport as usual, the live broadcast starts at 8.15

Eurosport have some coverage today starting at 2.15. Not sure if its another 'pre-season' type show or if its Qatar coverage. Either way I am now slightly happier about being signed off work for a week! Razz

Just checked on the moto gp website looks like Rossi and Edwards are doing well. Hayden was 16th and 15th in both practices has he got problems with the bike?

I think I might have to place a bet or two this weekend. Very Happy

Looks like the're just off the pace, nothing more. Mind you I think that they'll be nearer the sharp end tomorrow.

Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards topped the timesheets for Yamaha in the second practice session at Qatar on Thursday.

Rossi set his best time early in the session, while morning pace-setter Edwards was strong again to be second fastest.

Casey Stoner was also strong again after having a positive morning, and the new Ducati rider was third quickest in the afternoon.

John Hopkins was showing no signs of struggling with the injuries he sustained in testing at the Losail track last month, as he went fourth quickest for Suzuki.

Reigning world champion Nicky Hayden struggled in both of Thursday's sessions, and the Honda rider ended the day down in 15th place.

Looks like yamaha missed a trick somewhere. Rossi was RIDING better in pretty much every aspect, braking less into the corner and heavier on the throttle coming out but there was just no keeping that Ducati away from him on the straights. Bloody shame.

Shame my ass.

Looks like Yam and Honda have got some catching up to do... That Ducati is simply insane in a straight line, to have such an advantage in the top league of anything is incredible, kinda makes the rest look like they've been sitting on their hands.

Rossi/ Burgess's thinking exactly I reckon. Stoner rode his ass off though, can't take that away from him. Should make for a great season, it was good to see it all kick off again...... Loved the post race look on Haydens face too, hick ain' gon win sheeet. Laughing

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know anywhere where you can download the races? I'm stuck here at uni and they'll only put the GP on in the bar if there's absolutely nobody else in there, in the first term there was me and one other guy sitting in front of the big projector screen for the last race, I got there just as it was starting after running madly round my halls with a tiny hand held TV trying to pick up a signal. So yeah, hard to catch on the telly. I can't use bittorrent here either, I know sometimes you can find the GPs on torrentspy.

That was a good race, not the most exciting ever but it was interesting.

I was expecting Rossi to win, fair play to Stoner, his bike goes like stink and he wasn't too shabby everywhere else either, he did get a good result at Qatar last year though so it's a track he is strong on anyway, be interesting to see how he does at the next race.

As for Hayden, as expected he was nowhere to be seen, it's a shame he got the title last year, he isn't worthy of it, I'm rooting for Rossi/Pedrosa this year. Thumbs Up

Would have been interesting to see how Loris would have done on that Duke had he not crashed out. Wasn't he 5th when he went down? Probably could have got third after Pedrosa and Hopkins dropped so far back.

I think the commentator summed up the Ducati's superiority in one sentence:

"If it wasn't Valentino Rossi riding that Yamaha, Stoner's bike would've been on its own for the whole race!"

Shocked

This season they have installed a bit of kit to measure the bike lean angle.

In one of the practice or qualifying sessions I am sure I saw 71 degrees... Shocked

The race itself was nothing to scream home about (I fell asleep twice) and it was quite evident after the first five laps that the duc was the more superior bike.

Anyway, it doesn't change the fact that Rossi is god.
