See previous threads...

Anybody any idea what time of day it will hit the shelves (or baskets in Lidl's case) ?

So what kind of stuff are they doing and is it good quality?

Is it simply tank bags and some basic luggage or any clothing like gloves too?

just came back home from lidl and got me...

2x disc locks (cheap shite but whats the point of a decent one anyhow)
Pair of boot liners to keep my feet nice and dry
And a motorcycle first aid kit @ £3 (Ideal for when im greenlaning Thumbs Up )

The boots look nasty, as do the gloves. The jacket and the trousers actually look ok and so do the helmets @ £25! Shocked alright for on the minimoto Thumbs Up.

They also have chargers for £5 Thumbs Up

Hey,

I went this morning and there was stacks of stuff. Most of it looked decent quality. But i dont think i'd trust my head to a £25 helmet!!!

I ended up with a tank bag, which doubles as a rucksack. Only cost £14.99. Loads and loads of pockets, and the bottom zips off so u can use it as map pocket(Oxford ones are £15 just for this bit) Really good item i recon.

Cheers,
Shaun.

If anyones interested, here's my thoughts on the lidl bike gear I bought last year:

Maps - Handy as they're waterproof and tough-ish and don't take up much space, but they don't go into massive detail so aren't great for remote areas

Boots - Different from the ones advertised this year. Seem pretty tough, decent price, comfy to ride in but not great for walking about in. Can't say I've really used them though Neutral

Gloves - Again, diff from the ones pictured this year. Comfy, warm and cheap but aint tested them in the rain. Unsure of their protective qualites.

Disc lock - Seems tough enough, great price, no faults wiht it

Cable lock - Very thick, locking mechanisim seems good. Cost about £8 and would use it over a £30 chain anyday

Kidney belt - fantastic, really helps you back on the longer rides but I keep forgetting to put it on before I leave Laughing

Then another week I got a BBQ for £12 odd, it's great Smile

I went down to one of the local Lidl shops today too.
As already mentioned, I don't think I'd be too confident with the £25 lids etc, and IMO the boots and gloves really looked and felt like discount brands.

However the waterproof/bib trousers looked pretty good, and the first aid kit, locks and tank bags etc would be useful to anyone in the market for them.

I bought a rider-to-pillion intercom for £4.99, the idea being that if it works, even at slower speeds, it'll be a bonus for my son riding as pillion. But even if it's complete rubbish it's hardly a lot to waste.

I was actually waiting for these items recently, cos I've been after a magnetic tank bag for commuting etc... but eventually couldn't wait any longer, and bought one from HG.... just last week Rolling Eyes

I just went and got a back protector fits well and seems comfy. Also got the windproof boot liners. Couldn't see the little tiny tank bag any where!

i thought the back protector was good for the price too. I only went and bought the back armour for my buffalo jacket a week or so ago and it cost almost as much and its only the foam armour Rolling Eyes

After reading multiple threads on cheaper helmets, I bought one from Lidl, also bought the gloves too. Both will be used for commuting about town. I'll let you know how I get on.

Was some pretty good kit tbh, I got the disk lock, just so I can have front and back now, also got the back protector. Got the intercom as at a fiver even if it breaks after 3 uses it should be ok. Finally got the open faced helmet for trials riding so I don't look like a dick head in my road helmet when doing it Razz
Cheers

Damn, wish I'd made it in, I could do with a battery charger for £5! My damn TZR is forever emptying it :p
I did get a tank bag a couple of years ago, which is still in regular use and still in great nick. Bargain.

I spied this thread earlier today, and went down there. Thanks Thumbs Up
Most of my kit from last year is stilol standing up, but I bought a face mask, and a replacement open face helmet. I needed a new visor for my old one anyway.... and I now have a crew cut, so I bought an L instead of the XL I was wearing.

I got the boots, Not superb quality but at least they claim to be water proof unlike my old leather ones. worth the £14.99 even if they only last me a few months

I couldn't get to a Lidl, so dispatched Mrs Shaggy off to get a pair of boots and a tankbag. The boots seem to be of a similar quality to my current pair, which after something like 10 years now need replacing as the zip's a bugger on one of them. If they last half that time I will be very happy. The tankbag is expandable and zips off to reveal extra padded straps to wear it as a rucksack, has an additional shoulder carry strap and a zip off "bumbag". After seperating, the base also has a clear map pocket, in addition to the one in the main compatment itself. Although claimed to be waterproof, it also has an elasticated rain cover that zips out for torrential rain.

£30 well spent? Seems to be so far, will report on again after their maiden voyage tomorrow.

Well, the Tank Bags (actually called Tank Rucksacks at Lidl) at £14.99 are very good, a year on and mine's still going strong!

I bought a set of the similar trousers from Aldi last year, and have been using them for the last 4 months commuting 40 miles each way to work. Waterproof and warm, my only (very minor) gripe is that the armour pads in the knees tend to migrate slightly towards the insides of the knees rather than staying over my kneecaps.

I got the back protector and the cover, the Lidl i went to had everything, i could have spent up in there but i restrained myself. Trying to decide if i'm gonna keep the back protector to take it back and keep my one from hein gericke.

Being TUV, CE and EU approved its gonna be the business i assume and not cheap and useless?

Also if anyone wants the small items but cant get to a lidl, pm me and if i can i'll try and get you them, and as long as you cover the postage and cost of the item i'll post em to you?
