How many times did it take you to pass your car/bike tests?
Bike:-
1. Failed because I nearly ran into the back of someone on a busy roundabout (Failed on poor observation)
2. Failed second time around because I caused someone to undertake me on a dual carriage way (Incorrect lane use)
3. Finally passed with 3 minors.

Car:-
1. Failed because I pulled out of a junction turning left and miss judged the van approaching from the right, still pulled out cause I thought I had enough time, but I caused the van to slow down. Instant fail lol.
2. Passed with 6 minors.

Car

My instructor was on a run of 15 first time passes and had me down as a safe bet. I was a confident and competant driver when with my instructor or my parents.
1st - Failed cos I was so nervous I couldn't keep my leg on the clutch pedal.
2nd - (After my instructor had nearly crucified me for ruining his run) Failed, same instructor agian, I had a stupidly bad cold and just wanted to be in bed, and was still nervous on top.
3rd - Failed again cos it was the same instructor again and couldn't help but be nervous he'd fail me a 3rd time... (By this time my instructor was giving me lessons on staying calm)
4th - New instructor. He pulls me over after two mins and says "Why are you so nervous? we're not here to fail you and so take some deep breaths, calm down and move away when you're ready" after that I chilled out, I Passed with no further minors from the 4 I'd picked up at the start Embarassed Instructor even commented on my "supurb control"?

Bike

DAS - 1st time No minors (7 years later I have grown up a bit and gained a better control of my nerves)

Car: Passed second time.

First time I got a major for something to do with a reverse parallel park. Can't remember what.

Bike: Passed third time. First test I didn't go into an area marked by chevrons surrounded by a broken white line when I was queueing to turn right in a right turn box, and the examiner said it was a major Confused

Second time I was a bit over zealous with my rear brake on the emergency stop.

Third time I got two minors for hesitancy. What the examiner didn't know is, I had recently ridden up the slip road from Brighton marina (not five minutes before) which was shellgripped. It was raining and as I opened the throttle and let out the clutch, the engine just went straight up to the redline. I thought my clutch was slipping, but I worked out that my rear tyre was spinning up! Shocked

This was on an NS125 on a shellgripped slip road... so no wonder I was hesitant! Laughing

CAR - first time - ages ago before minors / majors

BIKE - first time, 6 minors. Some of those I didn't agree with (mirror checks at change of speed limit I know I did) but he did miss a couple of things that had me cursing in my lid so I didn't argue! Laughing

Car

1st I went down a single lane road with roadworks both sides, and made a van pull in to let me through, fail. And I had to emergency stop to let someone across a zebra crossing Rolling Eyes 2 majors 7 minors

2nd I took the wrong lane at a roundabout, and poor observation on the bay park (didn't look out the rear window, did it on the mirrors). 2 majors 6 minors

3rd I did something else I can't remember, but it was 2 majors 5 minors.

Changed instructors and passed 4th time with 1 minor.

Bike test I passed first time with 3 minors, when I asked him for any tips or advice on my riding he said "No it was a good ride".
