What sparked your first interest in motorbikes. For me, it dates back to when I was a wee lad and every time I saw a motorbike go past in the street or one parked up I immediately thought “wow, motorbikes are cool, I want one when I'm old enough” and when I finally reached the age where I could ride on the road legally I jumped at the chance and never looked back. I'd be the same as you if I saw one go by in the street. My dad and cousin didn't help with them both having bikes too Laughing

Had to wait till I was 21 to do my test as there was no way my parents were going to pay for lessons Sad

My Dad and older brother were always off motorcrossing on a Sunday, with loads of exciting gear and they came back muddy and grinning.

I whined my little 7-year-old girl whine 'why can't I join in?'.

So my Dad got me a PW50 and I did Thumbs Up Very Happy

Everything from the look, the noise, the speed and i guess the price.

Buying the Equivilant car would be far out of my price range Shocked .

Most family members and friends all have/had bikes at some point also which would have helped spur my interest.

That and i find cars in General boring when driving just by myself Sad

When I was 15 I joined a band made up of 18/19 year olds, who introduced me to alcohol, drugs, motorcycles and educational underachievement. Laughing

I can't explain it really. my interest in bikes started in March 2005 when i went to India and learnt how to ride. I booked my Das whilst still there (was there for 6 months) and when i got back i just had to get a bike!

Every since that time i have lost all interest in cars, suddenly motorbikes are beautiful to look at, whereas before i just didnt notice them.

I wish i had stories of going down the fields when i was younger and thrashing a 50 but i don't!

The fact I could ride a moped at 16. Quickly developed a desire for something faster, bigger and cleverer.

My mum and dad had bikes when they were younger (my mum had a minor bike crash in the ice when she was 8 months pregnant) and didn't stop when i was born, my mum and dad just clamped on a side car and popped me in that.

Since i was able to walk I've been to many bike shows like the NEC, BMF and many other smaller rallies.

I have bikes im my blood and have never felt whole without a bike, i doubt id ever be without one.

Now i just gotta get the wife into it more Razz

Same here. I used to have a souped up Scooby, sold that to buy a bike 6 months ago. Environmental and cost reasons Wink Never looked back since, and never will. I've always wanted a bike but the wife said they're too fast. No idea why she let me get a Scooby then Shocked

Cool man, and i`ll be honest with you, if i had the money to run a decent car and bike i would love it. A Lancer Evo VI and my bike would make me a happy man, but if i have to choose between them, its gonna be a decent bike, and a shite rusty old banger for me Thumbs Up

When I was about ten, on my birthday someone took me for a quick spin on the back of some big suzuki- can't remember what, just a big silver thing. Was soo good. Although this year is the only time I could do it, mainly due to being able to pay for everything myself, as the parents arn't keen

Got a scooter when I was 16 (Mum then took her DAS and got a 00 GSX750F which I went on a few times). Really enjoyed the Sky50 so pestered mother until she let me buy my CG125 on my 17th. We then went riding loads, she soon changed hers to a Fazer1000. Dad soon got bored of getting left out (he'd had a licence since he was wee) so went and bought himself a ZRX1200S. So we were all going about, i pestered them to let me take my test (in the process of learning mother got bored of the Fazer and Bought a ZZR1200). Then when i passed as a congratulations/18th Birthday present they bought me a GS500. Not long after my parents split up, my mums other half also rides a Blackbird so I used to go about with them all the time. Two years later I got bought the 03 CBR600F Sport.......

So really just natural progression from the scooter fuelled by my family being interested in it Very Happy

I used to ride pillion on my sisters 400/4 (she was a short-ass) and then later on her husbands Z1B900. Always liked bikes ever since.

My dad had an absolutely horrendous Piaggio NRG extreme to commute to work on. Then, the moment i hit 16, i got my CBT done and did silly things on it and fell off many a time. Disuaded into getting into cars, i carried on pestering my folks to get an NSR125, and then they decided to buy me a new XR125 instead. I used to think that being pillion on an NRG to school in year 9 was rather cool Cool, bit of a twat, although if my dad rode my current bike to school with me on the back, i'd be a legend!

When I was 6 or 7, my dad was a milkman and commuted on a BSA Bantam. I would go with him on his rounds at weekends and school holidays, so would be pillion, complete with Corker helmet :-
