The Bros is wayy different the ally frame completely alters the handling, I wonder if a bros 650 frame
will fit all the NTV650 bits...hmm removing 35 kilos would improve the MPG lots I reckon,
anyway ,
to the original poster ,
{QUOTE]
nice one, what are they like for speed
{/QUOTE]
it will hit 133 , tops laying on the tank , flat out , more to do with aerodynamics than anything like
most naked bikes. I know this from a Blade pacing me down south , who had some sort of
dash function thing which recorded his top speed which = my top speed as we were level (I was
getting me head torn off my the wind blast he was sitting there easy).
but it may take a while to get there, 20-25 seconds maybe? but it works very well on the twisty bits
super sports or any newer bike will run away from you on straights,
day to day riding its plenty fast enough sits at 90 ok on the motorway , without H rated tyres (my last
set of tyres) it skips about horribly , my current BT45s with the H rating, it doesn't skip until 125mph
{QUOTE]
and acceleration then?
{/QUOTE]
quite torquey being a twin , about 50% more than any 400cc bike , where the '30 makes 4kg.m
the NTV650 makes about 5.3, this difference is noticable, and in chases it is noticable, as Stinksays
theres no substitute for cubes, its why I'm generally not so won over by 400s anymore, (sudden
thought a Bros 650 with its lighter frame and iff modded with twin discs should be a fantastic match
for sports 400s)
It WILL wheelie in 2nd , at the red line under power , not recommended the clutch and gear box are
the weak points of this bike , I did this accidentally being chased by a merc of some sort about a year
back , the front felt really light real light and I let it go , to change up,
Misc notes , it will do great MPG for such a heavy bike , from remembering my many trips from Manchester
to Exeter with lots of lugage I'd score 60+ MPG, it also fits extra endurance tanks easily too
I find handling a bit neutral , its less point and shoot , but its very stable , and you can get your KD
on the left easy , its harder on the right due to the relatively low can.
Its an excellent beginners bike, and has OK limits which you may reach quite quickly, at which it'll
do find relegated to the commuter role, others will always take the piss though , since its an old bike
but with some effort (and heroics esp when chasing 636s which are devilishly hard to catch on
NTVs) you can keep up with fairly experienced riders,
I managed a shade under 900 miles once and my bum ached only a bit.
Bad points:
Everybody especially office concierge type folks will think you are a courier ,
you can't get engine bars or bungs you have to make your own , which means the radiator / tank
bars get bent easy , but save the engine covers.
Tad heavy
