Looking at one of the above.
Anything worth while that i should make a extra carefull check of ?
20,000 mile on the clock. R reg.

Was quite surprised at how easy they are to handle when not running.

No particular vices.

Dont be put off by a noisey engine, theymake a fair amount of ticking at idle when in good condition! Its an oldskool aircooled motor and they do make afair bit of noise.

Just check it over for corrosion, particularly of the rear shock and the exhaust. Otherwise theres not much to worry about.

Check the exhaust collectors for corrosion. Replacing the exhaust ranges from 350 quid for a 4-1 Nexxus to 750 for a Yamaha direct replacement. Check under the rear right panel for starter loom corrosion (unclip the connector blocks to the relay, any "green" is a dodgy sign).

Check the top and bottom engine gaskets for signs of oil seepage and the right breather tube under the bike for signs of sludge. Too much and it could be piston rings or just too much oil in the engine overflowing into the air filter.

Umm... That's about it really. I did 8k on mine in a year with just a set of tires and a caliper cleanup after winter. They are pretty bulletproof and a decent hack bike.. Smile

I might pick one up to reminisce.. Smile

Well its done and bought now. Laughing

Ran pretty sweet, despite being stood for a while.

No signs of oil leaks and exhaust looks ok for its age.

Much better riding position to the ZZR 250 i have.

Post a pic or two. They are comfy for eating up the miles and will run merrily with two-up. Toured around the Cotswolds and over to hereford on ours last year and bar a quick clutch adjustment it was fine.
