Bad Karma post edits

I've recently been noticing this, but there have been quite a few threads which received bad karma for being boring or redundant due to the content posted, and to rectify this, they have edited the post so that there's no trace of this. Meanwhile those who are wondering what the original post and follow-up was about have no idea.

I think to keep the understanding and disclosure to all members of the forum appropriate, i think it would be a possible idea to not allow posts to be edited if bad "sufficient" bad karma was given out for that particular post. I'm not mentioning any names, but there are a few people out there that do this. I mean in day do day speach, you don't say err scrub what i first said because it was wholly inappropriate or irrelevant and just rewind and adjust/twist a few words?

That way, other readers will be able to understand the whole story rather than "Ooh, i received bad karma on the original post, so i'll decide to change it". I've been left confused as to what the connection between the posts are sometimes as there is no discontinuity.

you can tell if a post has been edited titz. so you know if its been changed or not.

Generally speaking its only counted as edited if someone has replied after and then you edit.

It's often resolved by someone quoting the post anyway.

but it would be nice if the post the conversation stems from was locked for editing after a rating this would ensure people know what is going on, and the suspects might learn from their mistakes, edited 0 times

Remember, the idea of post ratings is to give people an idea of how others view their posts - if they get a lot of 'flame'/'abusive'/'spam' ratings then personally I see it as quite reasonable for them to edit it, as it is often the case they did not realise it would cause nearly as much offence as it did.

But most people will still rate it bad even after it is edited, just to "look cool"
