Even though some bikes cope better with higher mileage/use I think its usually down to how the bikes are looked after. If a 600 sporty has been ragged all its life then It wont last as long. ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500

I've known a fireblade to last 128,000miles. That's right - 128,000 miles! Some guy in colin collins had it. Basically was tatty because it was his track bike, but the camchains/tensioners got checked and changed every 10,000 miles. Valves given a look every 8000 miles, and an oil change very 3 or so months.
One of my copies of Bike has a used review of an original fazer at the back, and there's an anecdote about a motorcycle courier who did London - Edinburgh runs and eventuall accumilated 320k miles which is SILLY for any bike.
Keep the engine serviced and there really isn't anythign that you should worry about.
If you're concerned about miles, maybe consider a winter hack? Many people do that to preserve the milage on their main bikes, saving money in the process. Tax ur 600 for 6months, then sorn it when it's in winter etc.
Stick to the service intervals and you should be fine, although i should think that a major rebuild would be expected about 40,000 miles. ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

Ive got a CBR 600F Sport with 26000 on the clock and its running absolutly great.... regular servicing and and some TLC and a motor should keep going and going....
However i did have a another bike that had been thrashed all of it life and the pistons rings were shot, it had only done 15000!!! ____________________ Crazy, not Stupid.......

Skies the limit, I've heard loads of stories of sports bikes doing well over 100,000miles without any engine work.
Treat the bike right and it'll treat you right. Dont skimp on services, dont thrash from cold and it'll be fine.
I'd have no problems riding a high mileage bike, although I confess I probably wouldn't buy one (by this I mean 40k+) unless you knew what it had been treated like.
Search this forum for threads like 'whats your mileage' etc and I'm sure you'll see LOADS of high mileage examples. ____________________ My bikes are at https://www.bikepics.com/members/dynamight/ |
