My old Gixer 600 reccomended tyre pressures for normal solo riding as 36psi for front and rear.
My 750 has the same size wheels, yet reccomended pressure is 36F & a whopping 42psi for the rear!
With 42psi in the rear, there seems to be bugger all grip at the back and it slides around quite a bit - especially at standing starts where it will often spin up and i have to slip the clutch to get some forward drive.
Lowering the pressure in the rear(36 - 38psi) sorts this out.
Why would i need such a high pressure in the rear tyre, could it be a misprint/mistake on the part of Mr Suzuki?

No its likely to be a compromised recommended pressure should you also be carryying the weight of a pillion too.

But that is all the tyre pressures are - a manufacturers recommendation. It doesn't mean you have to stick rigidly to them, but it gives you a good base setting.

The tyre pressures on my R6 are 36psi front and 43psi rear, but that again is for two up. I run mine at 36psi all round and don't suffer any problems.

It's not such a big jump from 36 to 42, and if you're spinning the rear when pulling away you're not doing something right.

My Yamaha Fazer's tyre pressures are 36psi front and 40psi rear for all situations. The tyres are Bridgestone 020s, and the pressures are as recomended by Bridgestone and Not Yamaha.

The pressures listed in the manual are lower: 2.25 and 2.5 bar respectively.

What I would suggest is that you contact the tyre manufacturer and ask for their recommended pressures - if anyone can tell you, it's the tyre company.

I disagree, 36 to 42 is a massive jump in pressure. I'd run the rear tyre pressures low too, around 35/36 for the road probably assumong you're normal sized and not carrying a pillion. The same bike on track will be running around 29/30psi.

The original recommendation on my CB500 was 29/36, but that was changed to 36/42 by Bridgestone after further testing. Maybe it's a rethink rather than misprint?
