Went up today.

Just where you turn to your right to go and park up, there is a new style speed camera (its yellow and small but in a elevated position).

To be honest I only noticed it, coming back out.

Its a 40 mph zone and it there are speed camera warnings, but there are all the way from Skipton and its the first I've seen.

I think if you were turning in to the bike meet you'd be okay as you'd have to slow down for the junction. Otherwise be careful.

Yeah it is a bit of pants, plus it is very very to miss it as its soooo tall. Like I said I only noticed it going back.

Which Is a bit bad, I know they have to paint them yellow, but how often are you looking 20 feet up in the sky.

I've had a good look on the net and its a monitron speed camera.

Like this

https://www.speedcam.co.uk/g221.jpg

From reading about this, it has no film and doesn't work on radar like other cameras, it is digitally linked to head quarters, so it can keep generating income.

I have a inforad GPS detector on my ER and looks like I'm going to have to buy another one for my Z. (The fact that the Z750s has the worst speedo ever also).

I could see cameras like that making an appearance on the A64 in the near future.

Not on the Noth Yorkshire bits.
It's, thankfully, not North Yorks police policy to use fixed speed scameras. You can still be got by a mobile unit though.

The bits near Leeds may get them. They're quite keen on scameras n Leeds Thumbs Down

You ain't joking there.... Twisted Evil

If there isn't one at least every mile on the main commuter routes, there soon will be...

Also something for Leeds lot to be aware of, if you go past west park police station on the Dual carriage way heading out of leeds bit, i have seen quite few cars being stopped by the cemetery for speeding..... Very Happy Thankfully no bikes as yet.

The cameras are quite popular on motorway roadwork stretches, after SPECs cameras of course.

The roadwork speed cameras have been identified as a nice little earner.

I believe the only motorway to have fixed speed cameras is still the M4 (see here), unless you know for certain anything different.

Humberside police have a mobile unit frequently positioned on the M18 eastbound near Scunthorpe (there are speed camera signs). Often there on a Saturday too. Couldn't be it's just there to raise money from away supporters could it Confused Wink (I think we know the real answer to that one).

There's two - one where the cars park and one where the bikes turn to park. Been up for a while now, theres a thread in the northern section.

Not much but the lines on the floor are a hint.
