Can I ask the question that everyone is thinking.
Why are you only HPI'ing the bike now, why not before you bought it ? ____________________ the undemocratically unelected mod of the Scottish section |

I know what you are going through mate, I did the same on my old car. I was looking at loosing £6k though
I bought the car of an old friend who forgot to mention it had finance owing
Luckily I knew where his shop was so I just kept going round there until he paid up. Went on for months though - very stressful
Thats very interesting what Zimbo mentioned. Sounds like you have no worries at all then.
Good luck mate, let us know how you get on.
p.s to find out who the finance is through check your hpi report there should be a number on there with a id you quote. btw they will give you some rubbish down the phone saying they can't tell u anything only that they own the vehicle etc etc.. ____________________ [Rides: Suzuki GSF600sx]

I bought a car from a dealer years ago and was on holiday a few weeks later when I got a call at home saying they (finance company) want it back. When they learned it was dealer-bought they left me alone. Apparently the previous owner gave it in part-ex for a new motor without declaring the outstanding finance. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I gotta be honest I've never done a HPI check on any bikes I've bought! Although I've only bought 2 from private sales and they've all been atleast 5 years old....hoping for the best
Saying this, I have sold a bike that was under finance! actually part exchanged it to the shop I bought it from with well 2 years finance remaining! It didnt even occur to me at the time but I had no intention of stopping the payments or anything so there wasnt a problem. Lucky really, that RS125 would never had lasted 4 years barely got through 18months and then it looked like a tatty rust bucket. ____________________ My bikes are at https://www.bikepics.com/members/dynamight/ |

I called the number and explained that i had bought the bike then checked it etc and she said oh thats fine, i will remove the interest marker we have placed on this vehicle and arrange alternative options with the borrower. thanks bye. ____________________ Current : '08 Yamaha FZ1s

You call them and after a payment they will tell you if the vehicle has finance owing on it or it has had an insurance claim made on it. ____________________ the undemocratically unelected mod of the Scottish section |
