theft claim form question

just had the claim form through the post regarding the theft of my thundercat.

i know the purchase price 1350 notes but it asks for the current value of the bike and i'm wondering the correct amount to enter into the box.

the bike had just had a new battery.. the carbs cleaned and balanced.. a new rear tyre and new chain and sprockets and the plugs and the oil changed e.t.c..

any advice on the matter would be most welcome..

find out the price of all work done then add it to the purchase price, make sure you have recipts just incase they be funny about it.

Go on the internet and see what equivalent bikes are selling for. Keep a note of them for use later when arguing with the claims asessor.

Biketrader is a good place to start.

As 'stinkwheel' said... check out similar bikes on the net... but remember yours was in better condition than most of the ones online Wink

What I'm getting at is that the bike is only worth what it's worth. If the going rate for a good example well looked after bike is £1500, then it having a big service will not add that value to the bike.

How much did you insure the bike for when you got quoted? I would be tempted to use that figure as thats what your insurance quote was based on. Unless you under insured it in an attempt to bring it down a bit. Thumbs Up

I'd stick it as the purchase price at least!

Assuming you hadn't dropped it between buying it and it being stolen. Make the most of a bad situation mate. Don't instantly lose £150.

thats what i did with mine, just stick the price you paid into the box, so long as the bike hasn't turned into a shed durin the period of time you have had it.

I understand they only do that to feel the water when giving you your money back...

im sure some numpty out there will have underestimated their bikes value Wink
