Just so I don't have to keep explaining it to people:

Got me a RD350YPVS to get about on while other stuff is 'sorted'.
Bit tatty, no fairings though it should have them.
Needs a few bits doing, like thicker fork oil, head bearings checking etc.
Otherwise seems to be okay. Cost me £600 including a manual and disc lock Smile.
Got pirreli MT75s on, so I need to work out if they did BT39/BT39ss for it and if there's anywhere that still stocks them.

Unfortunatley my camera's a bit knackered, but it looks like the unfaired one here: https://www.bikepics.com/pictures/014195/

Nice one mate it'll certainly get you about the place.....Im pretty sure they never made BT39's to fit the rd wheels they do have a very limited tyre choice, goto www.rdlccrazy.com for a list of the best tyres you can fit to them also if your head bearinsg are gone then he sells replacement tapered head race bearings for them same as the ones you'll get from m&p but cheaper Smile

Any idea what kinda pipes its running??

Cheers

The pipes, I presume, are stock Yamaha, as they have 'Yamaha' embossed on them. Most of it is pretty stock apart from the bits mentioned.

Cheers for the link, though it doesn't seem to work (and various variations of it).

Are you looking for tuning parts and fairings? And what size tyres do you need?

Not really tuning parts, unless there's anything going cheap that won't harm the reliability to much.

Not really to bothred by the fairings, might have to get clipons again though, maybe mounted further down.

Tyres are 90/90 110/90 (presume 17").

Michelin hi-sports are a good cheap tyre, i got one of them as a front off of motorbike-tyres.com , with a macadam rear. Proper ZR rated radial, better than a BT45.

Long life too.

Hi

From memory I think they are 18" wheels. Is it an F1 or an F2? Is it standard? Friend had one highly tuned years ago. Another friend blew it up on the motorway at about 110. Said he had a lovely feeling of relief as his fingers reached the clutch lever, followed by total panic when it had no effect as the gearbox had seized.

All the best

Keith

If I recall the BT45 are the most popular tyre for RD's but I go for continental tyres. The think the model is the tkv but I'd have to go and look to check Very Happy They are reasonably priced and have good grip especially in the wet. after all, most tyres are good in the dry.

I've been used to Super Corsa's (very stick, used in lots of racing) and 010s recently, so BT45s probably aren't going to compare quite as well. But then the idea was that I wouldn't be pushing this bike quite so much Smile

It's the F2 I believe Keith, pretty much standard as far as I can see. I might do a couple things, but want to keep it pretty standard if possible.

Something like that Neutral

My zx9 has got a standard seat. Most racing seat units that can't take a standard seat are strong enough to sit on. You can get layers of foam from places like demon tweaks, which are used to soften it a bit. Don't expect anything like even the hardest of road seat units though. Might be better to try and get a seat made up from an old bike seat or some sort of gel pack.

Hi

From memory from a decade ago the F1 ignition was better for tuned bikes. The Yamaha exhausts could be easily improved on (but then they get very noisy). Watch out for the r/h exhaust smoking more than the left as that is a sign the gearbox side main bearing seal has failed and the bike is sucking in geaxbox oil.

We had a spare seat recoved for the Bandit with a gel insert (lowered the bike so Charlotte could ride it). Cost wasn't cheap (about £120 I think) but they did a very nice job. Think is was PNP seating of something like that, in Birmingham.

All the best

Keith
