Riding in to work this morning, dopey bitch stops 50m before traffic lights to let someone pull out of a driveway on the right of the road. Neither is aware of the bright yellow bike with the headlight happily filtering towards their chummy little meeting.

Matey boy pulling onto the road has his mind in neutral and doesn't bother looking left as he prepares to T-bone me. I brake and stop as he finally sees me and stops literally millimetres away from my front fork. His bumper is so close that I can't actually see past the fairing if he's hit me or not.

I gesture to him to back up and point to the side of the road where I want him to pull over (in my best "You've just narrowly avoided hitting an off-duty copper" manner.") and pull up behind him to inspect the damage.

There isn't any. Not a scratch.

I give matey boy a rundown of the phrase "due care and attention" and advise to be more observant in future and send him on his way.

I am not, nor have I ever been plod, and at no time did I ever say I was. But he thinks it was his lucky day today. Laughing Laughing

Pretending to be a cop will get you 27 years in Strangeways, it will also prevent you twating the pratt.

To be fair, he never said he was plod.... He's not responsible for whatever the driver may have assumed Wink

Why did you not stop or slow down as soon as you saw them? Would have saved alot of trouble to let the car pull out and be on his way, then filter past him later.https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/finglonga/Finglonga%20Inc/ne_nau.gif

Do you stop and let every car pull out of driveways, turnings, slip roads, alleys or paking bays in front of you? If not, there's your answer.

Of course I do if traffic ahead has already stopped to let someone out, its called being curtiouse to other road users. It would be dangerous to try and barge through as you have found out.

So true....

Bit like many car parks where people pull straight into a space then create mayhem as they cannot see properly when reversing out....

Their excuse...

I'm not very good at reversing.... Mad
FFS its far easier to reverse in and then be able to pull straight out, but i guess that requires a bit of fore thought that many driver seem to lack.

So what happens if you live on a main road and your drive backs out onto it?

non other than you're taking too much notice of the driver and not the large lump of metal you're approaching Wink

..nah am kidding, I don't get cut up by a gender/age just a type, the type that creep while looking left as you're approaching from the right, they see a space and go for it.. without looking right once... happens soo many times

I was on the Ducati. (Enough of an aural and visual symphony that even a single-cell amoeba couldn't fail to notice it, I would have thought.)

Not much good if you need to put a trolley full of shopping in the boot. I guess that requires a bit of fore thought that some people lack.

It's safe enough to reverse out of a parking space and most drive ways anyway.

Rick.
