Hi guys' n gals', I'm new to this forum in case you hadn't noticed Wink but from browsing recognise a few of you (Phoenix and TiN)...

I am 18, and ride a kwaker ZXR400L (which ive just crashed into a bridge wall Rolling Eyes ), but thats being rebuilt next week.

I've just got a decent insurance quote on a yamaha YZF R6 and want to go for it, problem is, it'll have to be restricted for another year to 33bhp.

Some people say it's going to run like a bag of shite , some say it should be okay, does anyone have any experience of a restricted sports 600, in particular a pre 2001 R6.

I know its not a good thing to restrict a 600, and how It'll be all looks and no go and I'll struggle to keep up etc, but C'mon, an R6 at 18, don't mind if I do! I cant ride a bike to save my life anyway. Laughing

So any ideas on what the R6 will be like? I'm hoping to get up to Gleam Machine next sunday to look at a 2000 V Reg, red/white/black R6 so need to decide whether or not to go for it.

Cheers,

Craig (aka. YamswheelyR1)

Welcome to BCF. Beware of everyone Razz

I say go for it, and these 33bhp restrictors are prone to falling out Wink

Talk to Mr Gooseybaby.

From what I gathered it goes ok up to about 100mph, then dies. Though these restricters have been known to fall out - shoddily installed I say Wink

I can't see it being any different to my ZXR (which is restricted) it manages to get to 110 but takes forever and an age to get there!

I think I'm just gonna go for the pose value / aftermarket parts availability and get one, regardless of how she runs restricted, you gotta admit they do look the business dont they Twisted Evil

TiN, is he the one who posted that wicked CBR250 video with all the wheelies and knee down? That video was well good, took me 2 hours to download but was worth it. I've just sent him an instant message, hope to get a reply soon Cool

So, whats this forum like then? I've had a browse around some of the more recent topics and seem's to be a nice mix of bike related stuff, rather than full on 400cc Nc30/Nc35 like Greybike (not that its a bad thing.....)

Yams.

Well, if you take away the "bike" from the "bikechatforums", then that just about sums it up. Razz

Goose is stationed near/in Pompey, but I doubt that he's ever free to attend pubs whilst he's down there. There are a few people (and hobbit) in the Hampshire are though.

As people have said when Goose gets a mo you'll get a reply.

He's not long been back home after spending the past few days at my house.

From what I got from the restricted R6 is it revs out in 1st and 2nd but it gets a bit choked up with the rest and top end is limited to about 110mph.

I was going to have a ride this afternoon but decided against it as I didn't suddenly want to find the bike die as I twist the throttle (it would of upset me. Laughing )

Welcome aboard, and stick around - you'll find most of us good chaps and chappesses.

Nah it's blue....well, various shades of Halfords badly colour matched blue. It may have appeared green tho because of the way the dent manipulates the light. He is/was 17, he's supposed to be 18 though now.

Just tried sending you a PM but dont think it worked.

Im kinda looking to do the same thing, 19, riding a 400 looking to go upwards on the CC ladder! Just out of curiosity how good are the insurance quotes your getting? Im 19 and have about 14 months left to run on my restricted licence.

Would be interested to know what your looking to pay for the R6 and insurance!

Cheers
Cougs.
