Had my test this morning, but didn't even make it out of the car park!

The side stand cutoff switch was full of gunk and stuck on, meaning I was going nowhere Confused Laughing Examiner ended it there and then and wouldn't give my instructor 5 mins to sort it out.

I don't blame him though, the test before me was abandoned too! The bike (which I was meant to subsequently ride) overheated and the lad had to pull it over in a cloud of smoke and ride back to the test centre on the back of the examiner. Shocked

So they had to rush the second bike down in time for mine, unfortunately they were in the middle of cleaning it and hadn't got round to cleaning the filth off the side stand switch.

Hey ho, just another 5 weeks to wait for another test. Thumbs Down Sad The babyblade will have to wait!!!

Bloody hell Mudskipper Shocked Sad

I'd ask the riding school to pay for your next test! It's on them to keep the bikes in working order for tests!

Better luck for next time Thumbs Up Cool

no asking, I'd be telling.

I hope they are going to provide at least a free lesson as well, that's awful

I'd be not only getting them to pay for the next test, but also hassling all and sundry to get a sooner booking if you're available.

There should occasionally be sooner times becoming available when other people cancel etc.

Alternatively, you could try other test centres.

Yeah they are paying for the retest, and a lesson Thumbs Up , hence why I'm not devastated, just left smiling wryly and shaking my head at my bollocky luck with tests!! Laughing

I don't blame the riding school though, the overheating on the first bike was unforseen (it was fine all the day before, and riding down to the test centre) and the problem with the second was caused by rushing to get it down as a replacement!!

Besides they're my landlords as well Wink so have to keep them onside!!!

I will be checking for short notice cancellations every day on the DSA site, won't hold my breath though, nothing came up last time I did that in Jan.

Ah well.

Jesus, Mudskipper, I would be going ballistic. One faulty bike....yeah, but the replacement bike faulty.....that's crap.

Taking a test, is gut wrenching enough,......without it being marred by substandard equipement, this sort of thing really pisses me off. Evil or Very Mad The riding schools are quick enough to take your money off you.....so they should be providing decent bikes.

Rant over....... get a another test ASAP and dont let your instructors fob you off with dates. Good Luck Thumbs Up

Reminds me of a test of mine.

Dodgy fuel from the local Shell garage + Bike inadvertently left on prime = Backfires so badly on pulling out of the test centre the bike dies on the spot (no engine, no electrics) and Examiner wouldn't let the test be done on the spare bike we had there. Luckilly my instructor got the bike started, Shame I didn't pass... Sad

My first test was also cancelled but due to weather conditions (some ice over night, but it had all thawed by the time we went out). I was given a 'out of pocket' form to fill out at my leisure. my instructor advised me to put a few extra hours tuition down + a half days wage + traveling expenses added up to £200...

im still waiting for my cheque though...

I understood that 'out of pocket' claims were only for when examiners cancelled due to illness etc, and that weather cancellations were excluded? I wouldn't hold your breath for that cheque, mate.

not to my knowledge as the examiner cancelled the test and then handed me the form from the DSA and explained how to put in a claim. If I cancelled then it would be a different matter completely...

Me neither.

I'm sure it says as much on the DSA confirmation letter you get. Weather cancellations by them are excluded.

I think your examiner was having a blonde moment, blamchez.

Im stunned...

Just spoken to the DSA (i wanted to hear it for myself) and the fu*kers refused it! How was it my fault that the examiner cancelled the test! I lost anothers days pay + 3 hours tuition which i paid for. I shouldnt be out of pocket...
